A better way to go about this is to give us what you want/expect out of a school, any constraints you have (financial, person preferences, etc). Then we can start giving advice and thoughts on what your fit would be. For a school to be a "fit" it means that you would fit in and enjoy the school...if we don't know anything about you, we can't help much other than say "Go UVA echols because it's a great program".

Thanks for your advice (hazelorb, shoebox10)
I do not get any financial aid from both schools. But money is not the main conern for me (though it matters much, my parents are willing to afford the cost)

What really matters to me right now are strength of the humanities&social science program and overall atmosphere of the school.
The former, I think UVA(echols) provides great opportunities. But, I am not sure whether I will adapt the atmosphere of the school well. (While Rice has small size of students, UVA has large number of students.)
So, my question is, How is your college life at UVA? Are you guys satisfied with your choice of school?

It really depends on what's important to you in a school. I'm very glad I chose UVA.. there are so many excellent professors and departments in the College, I've been able to take a lot of random courses not relevant to my major and have enjoyed them thoroughly. In fact, some of the classes I've taken have been so interesting that they've made me want to switch majors. :)

UVA is larger and as a result, many classes are probably larger in size. I'll say it doesn't really bother me very much. Once you get into your major, class sizes will become much smaller (probably 20-40 per class or smaller, depending on major). I think most people adjust to the size pretty quickly, once they find their niche at school; walking around grounds, it doesn't feel as big as it actually is.

One thing you'll notice about UVA students and alums is that almost everybody who goes here absolutely loves it.
