@UVAfan23 I remember hearing something about that too, did you see that on your myUVA page today?
that shows up when i log into SIS. whats the difference between myUVA and SIS? i try to log into myUVA with my SIS information but it wont let me…
Can you take a screen shot
I went to Charlottesville this morning to meet up with some people I met through the UVA college confidential just to get some feed back on my application and to let go of the pressure. Honestly I’ve never met so many individuals who wanted the best for some one. It made me realize that UVA isn’t just a school but it’s like a second family. Just made me want it so much more. So nervous!
@hooville17 You should have gotten a second email with your separate myUVA login username (you establish a password later on on the page)!
@hooville17 a “Accept Admissions” link pops up on your SIS or a “View Decision” ? I have “View Decision” up now. But we all know that just means my file is ready to be read. Could you show us a screenshot if you don’t mind?
I’m so curious because lots of people who logged into their myUVA account and saw “Accept Admission” on their checklist were the ones who got accepted, I believe.
@Edu_rms I’m happy to hear that. UVA has been my dream since 2009 when I got waitlisted lol. That’s so cool you met
Up with people from CC. I wish I had know. Haha.
@SamoyedScience No I didn’t see that on myUVa page, I wish lol. But who knows, maybe it’s just a fluke in the system and means nothing.
I got a green arrow on my application a few weeks ago! Good luck everybody!
Just to clarify from last year, no one that had the “Accept Admission” box got declined. Likewise, no one that got declined had the aforementioned box.
We all but confirmed it, but feel free to make your own conclusions.
@LaVolpe hmm very interesting how UVA basically, in a very subtle way, gives out their decision before they come out. Do you know how many days in Advance this “Accept Admission” box/link popped up? I remember seeing your name a lot times on that thread. Are you applying again this year?
@UVAfan23 From what I saw (because let’s be honest I’m sure a lot of us have been looking last year’s thread) the topic of the “accept admission” box on the myUVA page started on April 30th, one day before decisions were released . So I think we can assume that we shouldn’t expect anything until it gets closer to the end of April. Have faith, send out good vibes, go take a walk; I know it’s stressful now but stressing won’t change the outcome so why bother fretting over it? Anyway, good luck everyone!
Hey all, MyUVA doesn’t “get” any information from the system where we read and review files, so don’t read into the stuff you see there. It’s a system for exploring UVA, so we wouldn’t put any official decision there. SIS is where you’ll see all the official stuff when we are done with our review.
I’ve written about the checks and “view decision” stuff on my blog. Even though it’s for first years, those posts might help.
Guys, I think its important to keep in mind that College Confidential represents a very small portion of the applicant pool. There were maybe 30-40 unique users on last year’s thread out of the thousands of applicants.
I really believe that regardless of what is said, we have an Admissions Dean who says don’t read into it, so thats what we should do. Anything other than that could lead to a false sense of security, or alternatively unnecessary anxiety, only over something we’ve explicitly been told not to look into.
@LaVolpe I get that you’re trying to help, but really it’s beyond your scope to speak with that certainty.
@“Dean J” Any advice on how to keep the nerves down for a whole month? Haha
@BlueandGold123 Saying that thread only had 30-40 unique users is obnoxiously untrue.
I said draw your own conclusions, so tone down the condescending dismissal. Every single person that had the box got in, and not one person that got declined had the box.
That’s my data set and I infer the prior conclusion from it across many (no not 30) people that contacted a couple of us after their decisions to collect the data.
If you want to believe it’s a random coincidence across a several dozen people, then that’s your prerogative. I thought it was nonsense until after decisions were out and we collected the info from people.
@UVAfan23 It was very close to decision time, iirc. Like within days. And yes, I am applying again this year. I got declined from UVa and accepted to W&M, where I now attend.
@LaVolpe OMG, W&M is such a great school! Why would you want to leave? Lol. But I understand, everyone has a different story. I’m in nova but I’ve applied to both UVA and W&M and I’d be pretty happy with either, although UVA is my first choice.
no way me too! thats awesome… are you applying for arts and sciences @UVAfan23 ?
@zct0018 In a way haha. I grew up around the world (14 places, 4 countries), but I went to high school in Alabama and Florida so I claim the south in a way.
@UVAfan23 It is a great school, but it’s also where happiness goes to die.
Every negative stereotype about W&M is true, much to my surprise. I’d really rather drop out than return to W&M next Fall, so we’ll see what happens with UVa this time around.
@snp2896: YES! I’m applying to CAS as a 2nd year transfer. I don’t think I have enough credits for a third year transfer which is fine…More time at UVA lol. I’m super nervous though. I was waitlisted in 2009 (1 year after high school and just 1 college semester under my belt) so I’m hoping many years later they’ll accept me. I hope you get in!
@LaVolpe man, I’m so sorry to hear that. W&M is a beautiful campus, and having been there, I really really enjoyed it. The students were super friendly and the staff too, almost friendlier than UVA I might even say. What negative stereotypes have you encountered, if I may ask? I hope you get in. You seem very determined
