UVA Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

If yoUr r3adinG thIs, its 2 latē…incoming UVA transfers of 2017

For all McIntire transfer applicants, lets do some number crunching.

They will accept max 25 transfer students, about half of that is going to be from VCCS. So their will be about 13/14 kids admitted from 4 year schools and 10-12 kids admitted from VCCS schools.

So out of ALL the applicants (about 250-300, lets say 250) You have about a 10% chance, but since half of it will be from VCCS you now have a 4% chance. As do the kids from VCCS, about a 4% chance for them as well.

Very very tough and competitive. I have applied for McIntire, wish me luck!

Oh wow I’m glad I’m not into business.

@hooville17 I feel like they slacked on the transfer blog a little this year lol. Hope to see an update on Thursday!

The transfer blog is soooo inactive! I get so jealous of DeanJ’s notes from Peabody blog. She’s always updating it.

DeanJ is my homepage lol.

I agree, the blog is so inactive! I check everyday for an update.

Did anyone attend transfer day in November?

Does anyone know how the waitlist works? I would assume that there is some method of ranking the people so the person at the top of the list is the first to be offered a spot should one become available. Is this ranking already set in stone based off of your application and stats or is it first come, first serve based on who accepts the WL offer first?

@lowrancc I believe after they receive everyones final transcripts they start all over again. Im pretty positive they don’t use a ranked WL.

Correct! UVA doesn’t rank their waitlist.

Ahh that makes sense. So you’re saying that once everyone accepts (or does not) their offers to be placed on the waitlist, admissions reviews everyone’s files again and then accepts however many there are spots. Correct?

yeah that sounds about right. @lowrancc

Just curious, is anyone able to search for classes on their uva sis??

@DannyCareyisGod I was there at the transfer day! Honestly I didn’t like my tour guide. She didn’t really show us anything. I got a better feel for the place when I went back myself and walked around.

@zct0018 Thats exactly why I was asking! My tour guide didn’t do a very good job either. I was the only person who seemed interested and asked almost all the questions. It also felt like he was avoiding some of them. If I get accepted I was thinking about joining the tour group club/group just so I can do a better job.

@shiica95 yes I have been able to do this for a while

@DannyCareyisGod agree with 100 percent. I just finished Jeffersons autobiography. So many amazing things have happened around that area in history. I feel the tour guides should go deep into the history of the area and Jeffersons impact and his vision for the university. Not just telling people how they call him TJ lol. Just my two cents though.

@zct0018 The very first thing my tour guide said was that we were not going to go into a lot of the history behind UVA and I was immediately disappointed. My tour guide did a much better job at W&M and I was not even half excited for that tour. After finals are over I’m going to go walk around the school and explore on my own.

@DannyCareyisGod I would recommend the down town mall area. It reminds me a lot of Harvard in Cambridge. Truly a wonderful atmosphere.
