@joonyblue12 I had a professor who was already writing up five letter of recommendations on my behalf, and two other letters of recommendations were written by another professor. I didn’t want to push it and ask if either one of them can slide in one more letter of recommendation for UVA considering that they were already busy with their own personal schedules and what not. Plus, I saw that it was recommended that people get their letters of recommendation in, but it wasn’t required. So I cut myself some slack in that area. However, I do see where you’re coming from with how it might negatively impact my app. On a personal note though, I think my chances of getting into the McIntire School of Commerce is already low due to my past performance in academics, so this school is definitely a long-shot.
@WhoTouchedMyTaco, I’m afraid that I would have to put your chances of getting into McIntire at pretty much nill, however, I am assuming you already expected this as you had your professors write you letters of recommendation for other programs and not the hardest, most competitive school that you applied to. If you look at the profiles of accepted VCCS students into McIntire, they are stellar. They check all the marks–leadership, jobs, very difficult course loads, math beyond what is required by the business administration program (i.e. Calc I and Calc II), and excellent letters of recommendation. McIntire accepts 25 transfers each year.
If you don’t take the application process seriously enough, or don’t want it enough, then you simply have no chance.
@Hong727, I would argue that simply joining an honor society, such as Phi Theta Kappa, does little to aid your application process. Admissions officers know that students do everything they can to embellish their applications, so it isn’t uncommon to see students list participation in ten different clubs, for example. However, simply joining a club doesn’t mean anything. If you are able to show your contributions to the club, or honor society, then that is another story. If you win awards or are recognized for your leadership, that is another story. If you hold an officer position or are the founder of a club that actually benefits the community, and not something such as the Brony Club, then that is another story.
However, don’t expect any benefit from simply signing up.
How do I know if all the materials were recevied by UVA? If I have no “to-do’s” in SIS, then does that mean they received everything? Also does anyone know around when decisions will be released?

Recommendations: None Yet, I am asking my sociology professor and he always tells me I that I am very smart and that I should pursue multiple career paths. I finished my 50 question plus essay and double checked it, all in 15 minutes to prove I am really smart to him. He should give me a good recommendation. (Telling it how it is…)
Might also ask my ECON Professor for a letter of REC (My Major)
If my application is very competitive or complete trash, let me know! Honesty is the best answer!
You really don’t if you’re applying as a sophomore. But in order to be in the major department like philosophy example you should have at least taken one class. Those requirements are mainly for people applying as juniors as that is the year they need to be able to be accepted into their major program etc! I talked to the department for my major program and they explaine it hoped I helped
You don’t have to turn it in but it’s highly recommended just because it might help them make a final decision so you don’t get waitlisted! Even if you don’t you have to send in your final grades regardless
hi guys, I’m currently a third-year comm student that transferred in during the fall from a community college. I understand how stressful the wait can be and I’d like to help those that have applied into Comm. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to DM me. In regards to my stats/etc, you can probably get them from my post history. Good luck to all!
