UVA Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

I can back @scarletred up on this. He did say it but it got deleted. Idk how we’ve gotten to the point of arguing about this though…

@CTUR782 He did. The post was removed, because it was a tro ll post. He was saying stuff like having a 38/36 ACT score.

@TerrierNation Didn’t notice you just wrote that lol

So does anyone what is the policy on summer classes? Hypothetically, if I were to get accepted from UVA and wanted to take summer classes would I be allowed to take them at my current college or would I have to take them at UVA?

Does anybody know more than this: “At least half of the applications submitted from external transfers don’t indicate enough hours (at least 54 needed, but 60 is better) or the correct prerequisite courses?” I know that UVA has lots of statistics, but I have not been able to find any exact statistic of this claim. According to this I can only guess that it’s around 50-60%. By the way, this is in reference to McIntire.

This might be something only @“Dean J” can answer.

@CTUR782 I’ve read about the policy before and I know that you can take your summer classes at UVA or at your current college with no issue whatsoever. Taking these classes outside UVA in the Fall can be more problematic.

Yep, @CTUR782 I actually asked Dean J this on the transfer blog. I was told you can take classes at community college as much as you want PRIOR to enrolling at UVA (Fall 2018). After that, is when it’s scrutinized and discouraged.

@Vincent1997 I believe historically only 20-25 external transfers get into Mcintire. From what I gathered at an info session last year, their application is different from internal applicants. The only classes that aren’t required for the pre- requs for application purposes are the foreign language requirement but it must be done before September.

Four days left, friends. The suspense is killing me.

Was anyone directly emailed by an admissions officer about items on their to do’s/did any of you have admissions to do’s as late as 2 weeks ago?

@NOVAtransfer I wasn’t but that doesn’t sound like a bad thing.

@NOVAtransfer The only to-do’s I had left were my w2/tax return and family income/expense report form – about 2.5 weeks ago. Nothing since then. I’ve been checking every day.

I neverrrr post on here, but do check up regularly because I am also a UVA hopeful just like you all.

However, you guys have me stressing REAL hard. And probably everyone else haha. As far as the whole financial aid/to do list situation, I did a lot of looking back into the past transfer blogposts. For anyone who has “no financial aid info found,” like me, … People got accepted into UVA and it took many days after for their FA information to show up. So no worries at all.

@gnpy123 It was more of a true positive test than a true negative, so yeah. Same, good luck!

Good luck to you too! I’m sorry if I came off kinda crazy- the waiting process is taking over my life basically haha

@gnpy123 No not at all. It took over my life this past week too, haha!

I’m sure it’s killing us all. Just try to think of this week as any other week. Patience! :stuck_out_tongue:

It helps if you focus on how little time we have left to study for finals. Time always seems shorter when you have work to do.

Is anyone else having a serious case of senioritis, but as a college transfer? I am so burned out, I’m trying to squeeze every possible motivation out of me I have left

@Lavender111 I definitely feel that! Also, I wish that I already had my finals coming up like you guys. I still have 5 weeks to go.

Does anybody know why exactly McIntyre is so competitive. I always knew it was difficult to get in to but over time I’ve just come to realize how intense it actually is. I’m applying to the SEAS so I know it doesn’t affect me, but I’m amazed at the numbers for McIntyre. The people who come out of there must be big shots.
