somebody in the other thread was saying that "uva has too many jocks and a lot of the students are close-minded and arrogant, and southern-ishh......"

it's not true, is it? :(

it's not true, is it? :(

Depends on what you think of as "a lot"...yes many are...but then again mane are definitely not. There is a nice niche for most everyone.

Southern people seem scary to me. I am used the lifestyle and the people of California!

but are ppl in uva close-minded and arrogant?

Close-minded and arrogant? I challenge you to a duel, Sir!

Some people are...but the stereotype doesn't apply to "UVa people"...therefore, my answer is no.

"Close-minded and arrogant? I challenge you to a duel, Sir!"

are u a current student at UVa?

Class of 2009

see? not a current student! DAMN! i'm so scared. i hope UVA's social atmosphere is OK

It'll be fine, ThomYorke.

Just be ready to wear your collar in the upright position for a couple years...

Haha...don't worry...the social scene is NOT scary. And popping is certainly optional.

i don't know which tour you went on but I saw alot of collars on the down position...kids seemed to be friendly

Closed-minded? I don't know what you're talking about. I don't care to discuss it either, you silly person. Why would I even want to talk to YOU anyway.

Humph.

fixes stray hair

You know, it really depends on who you hang out with. There will be close-minded and arrogant people at every college. UVa students and alums tend to be successful in life, and it's hard to be successful in this ever more global & internationalized world being close-minded. So no, UVa is not close-minded.

As for arrogance, we're confident and proud of our school, which shouldn't be confused with arrogance.

One might call it Cavalier?

I think globalist put it pretty well. there's types of everything at uva. Furthermore, i think the human race in general is a very closed minded race.

BUT, disclaimers aside, by my definition of "closed minded", i would say that very few of the people i have met during my first year have been such. (If any)

My def. is someone who is unwilling to ever challenge themselves and at least try to see the other side of the argument, even while in total disagreement.
