UVa Status???

hahah...omg!!! I went to blockbuster to rent it tonight and it was def. gone...:(

I'm glad you got to see it though :)

wmrocks, 3.3 at WM is good! I know WM app says that they take in students with a 3.5 from U and 3.75 from CC.

Hi again....Sorry that I just dropped the news so abruptly yesterday but I had an engagement to go to and I didn't have much time to stay around. I debated about letting you all know that I had received my letter since I have been a lurker and not a participant in this thread. I was so excited and I know everyone has been on such pins and needles for such a long time waiting to hear. I just wanted to give the heads up that the first letters had been sent. Tomorrow I am sure others will have good news too. I figured that since April 15 is also tax day that the mail system was overwhelmed causing the letters sent to be caught up in all of the chaos. I know how difficult it is to wait!!! As far as choosing between WM&M and UVA I am still on the fence. I am still leaning towards the smaller of the two schools. I am older than most of you so the social life of college is not as important. I just want the best atmosphere for me to get the most out of my education. Both schools are excellent as are others. It all comes down to the right fit. Anyway enough about me. I wish all of you good luck! Monday will bring good news!!!!

You won't regret coming to W&M...your classes will be very small fand you'll find the students to be super nice. Good luck on your decision

Hey jenn26, along with your acceptance letter...what else was there? Like a transcript/dean report or what exactly? thanks

The letter is in a slightly larger envelope than a business size one. You won't mistake it! There is a transfer guide but nothing else. The letter states that after you send in your deposit you will receive more info....hope that helps....

That's the same type of envelope/letter I received from Tech. Well Jenn, I'm from C'Ville too, so if I don't get a call from my Mom tomorrow (I'm at UMD), I'll assume I didn't get in and will be headed to Tech.

Congrats to you, though! You've got a couple of great choices!

"however, mentioning that W&M is a school for UVA rejects is far from true, leave that title for Vtech or JMU."

I beg your pardon! Some folks prefer Vtech and JMU over UVa, believe it or not. Obviously, most of us here prefer UVa, but that doesn't mean everyone does...different schools for different folks. And, I might add, I'm looking forward to going to Tech if I don't get in to UVa. It's still a great school! Personally, I like going to a large school. I've enjoyed all the opportunities here at UMD and look forward to that again wherever I end up.

"I just wanted to give the heads up that the first letters had been sent."

UGH!!! Looks like I missed out! My parents should have received something also, but NOTHING.

Good luck to all of you!

Katt, you can still be accepted on May 1. I wouldn't give up if I were you until you get a rejection letter... because maybe you'll get an acceptance letter instead. :)

So neboola... since you appear to be a freshman... I'm guessing you aren't applying directly to McIntire?

Ok, I'll stick around. Curiousity is KILLING me!

CC Student- What do you mean here? Working student accounts link? Is that something that's supposed to show up when you log in?

"I think that I did not have a working student accounts link last time I logged onto ISIS. Hmmm...."

Has anyone else besides Jenn26 received a letter?

That's my problem with Jenn26. She posts her first post here. NO one else has posted anywhere that they've been accepted... Very likely a troll...

A couple other things I picked up on:

Last time I checked, Mr. Roberts actual title is "Associate Dean of Admissions" not "Dean of Admissions." The system still shows his title as Associate Dean. This leads me to think her "acceptance letter" is a fake.

Jenn's "suggested" submission date of her app is misleading. The official deadline is March 1st, and was extended two weeks to mid-March. So, her Feb 15th date seems to try to make everyone feel like they made a mistake.

According to Wahoo2007 and others, last year's acceptance letters were in a normal size envelope, the same size as the waiting list/rejection letter.

Sorry, I just don't buy it. Too many inconsistencies.

I've got a fin-aid question. I filled out the FAFSA the beginning of the year, but I didn't fill out UVa's separate fin-aid app. Just noticed it today on their website. Did we have to fill this out? I wouldn't really need the aid being in-state, but I'd like to know if this was something I had to do.

Yes, you had to fill it out if you wanted financial aid

Oh no, well I guess it's too late now.

well on the UVa website it said February 15th...SUGGESTED date of application submission for transfer students...not required....Dean Roberts isn't the head Dean of Undergraduate Admissions but he does coordinate the transfer process...but i still think Dean Blackburn would probably sign the letters....well either she really gotta letter or she didn't...i guess we'll find out sooner or later

Katt, maybe not. Fill it out and send it in anyway. Deadlines are dealines, but rules can be bent.

If there's need and there's money, you may just get lucky.

Good luck!

nahrafsfa - This is how Mr. Roberts signed his Feb 14th email to me:

"Greg W. Roberts
Associate Dean of Admission
University of Virginia
(434) 982-3380
(434) 924-3587 fax"

I could be wrong, but unless things have changed rather quickly, I doubt he'd sign Jenn's letter as Dean. I would think Dean Blackburn might take umbrage at this slight.

Not that it doesn't exist, but I haven't seen the Feb 15th date anywhere.

Feb 1st - Recommended non-manditory deadline...etc.

March 1st - Postmark deadline for all transfer candidates...etc.

I think her post, along with "Dean Roberts'," makes for some very questionable activity at a time when we're most susceptible to such posts.
It seems to me that someone is a little bored and getting their jollies at our expense.

Hmm... who here has that kind of sense of humor? Any comments wmrocks?

I like how Jenn, wakes up at 6am and runs to the computer to make posts on Sunday morning. Could it be that she is going to church right aftewards? Hmm... maybe somebody couldn't sleep at 6am. I wonder who was up until 6am... I can think of at least one person... But I'll keep my mouth shot. This is amussing.

Toph, I said I applied to Comm school, so I would be a junior.

Oh, and NOBODY, on any other boards postes anything regarding getting any significant mail
