hey i just applied to the uva summer session.. i am a rising senior.. i was wondering what i need to know about this summer program.

the website wasn't totally clear, but do you live in dorms?
-how many courses does one take?

or anything else, anyone done this program, especially high schoolers?

thanks!

also are there separate courses for high schoolers, or does everyone take college-level courses

I have done Summer Session twice, once a week after graduating high school and the other time last summer so I know a thing or two about it.

There are only college-level classes for Summer Session since it is a university. The usual summer workload is 1-3 courses for the whole summer. There are 3 seven-week sessions and one nine-week session for Summer Session. The seven-week sessions take up all of the summer with each session starting the Monday after the previous one ended with the first one starting May 12, the Monday after Spring finals are over. The nine-week session starts in mid-June and ends in early August.

You may or may not live in the dorms for Summer Session. It is not free, and the space is limited as most first year dorms are used for summer camps. So figure out if you are going to take classes soon so you can apply for housing.

It tends to be quiet, for Charlottesville, during the summer. I sometimes find it unnerving, but Summer Orientation brings first years so it's not always boring.
