UVa Transfer Essay

blush sorry.

lol that's funny...all over the word dialect....or dialectic....

Hey noodle, with those stats and that essay, unless you've become an "axe murderer" ;) you're in.

Just curious, what are you planning to major in?

Thanks! sharpens brand-new axe

well, neuroscience if i can get into the program. (They only take 25 students.) if not, Psych with a concentration in neuro and cognition.

Then a joint JD/MA bio ethics.

Then i'm gonna sleep.

my friend did Law at UVa and is now doing Med at Chapel Hill for Bio-ethics. It looks like UVa Law is now top 10 (according to US News).

I believe UVa's law school is ranked #9 in US news. In-state students have a pretty strong advantage here because 40% of UVa Law's students are residents of the commonwealth (last year there were roughly 5,700 out of state applicants vs. 870 in-state...pretty good odds). I definately plan on taking advantage of this as a VA resident...lets just hope my LSATs go smoothly. Noodle, have you taken the LSAT yet?

no. and i am not looking forward to it. got any tips?

Begin studying as soon as possible and no less than 2-3 months prior to your exam. I have already started and I dont plan on taking the LSAT until the fall of my senior year (about 1.5 years away). Def. take powerscore (the course) if you can afford the $1000...and on that note, the LSAT is a very learnable test (but admin officers do not like the idea that you can basically buy a 160+ so they will tell you otherwise).

any correlation between sat and lsat scores? verbal? math? just curious...

The only correlation between the LSAT and the SAT that i'm aware of is that your LSAT score is just an SAT score w/ a 1 added at the beginning and a 0 dropped at the end (ie. 145 lsat score=450 sat score). Aside from their general comprehensive skills they're design to measure, they are very different (LSAT basically is intended to give the admin boards a feeling for how you will do your first year in law school...where as your undergraduate record gives them a better idea of your verbal/mathematical skills).

rats. i wuz hopping dat bicuz i talk inglish rilly gud and cann due maf rily gud espshully longe divizhun thatt itt wud helpe mee doo rily gud onn da LSAT.

yeah, you should probably start studying.

:)

whyever would you say that?
