So, I am still reeling from the acceptance high I received earlier this week. I got into UVA, CMU, Emory, Notre Dame and NYU Stern!!! I am really excited about the business programs at all of these schools, but the problem is I have no idea which one I should choose.

As you can tell from the title of this thread, NYU and Notre Dame are not such strong contenders for me right now. I am still not entirely sure, but right now I feel that NYU is just way too expensive and living in the city will pose problems, money-wise and education-wise. Plus, I feel New York might be too much of a distraction for me lol

I don't know too much about Notre Dame except my initial stereotypes of it - that it is mostly white, Catholic and Conservative. I know this is just a stereotype and could be utterly wrong, but as an Atheist and ASIAN
-.-, with little knowledge about ND, it definitely sways my decision.

So that leaves CMU, Emory and UVA. I am currently leaning towards UVA. It's the only one where there is a Chipotle only 2 minutes away from campus (that I know of). And it's campus is ridiculously beautiful. The day I visited Emory, it started to rain (a bad sign for sure), but there WAS the fantastic bbq joint nearby. And the buildings at Emory were quite phenomenal (sooo shiny). CMU was cloudy the day I visited and the doors of almost every building was locked sooo...it's obvious my reasoning lacks any sense at all (aka it sucks).

So, I really your guidance! Please and thank you?

P.S. What do you guys think about the relative lengths of each business program. ND for example has a 3 years program while UVA has a 2 year one. Does this actually make a difference?

are you in-state to uva? All three schools are good in business from one ranking to another. In terms of student diversity, CMU and Emory outshine UVA by a wide margine 23%, 20% vs 10% not including international students. I don’t know about CMU, but Emory also has a 2 year program, first 2 years in Emory college and last 2 at Goizueta. Another thing to take note of is the weather, as CMU and Emory are almost polar opposites. Emory is much much warmer than CMU, although in winters it still gets pretty cold, but rarely below 0.

Sadly, I am not in-state (financially, that would have been a no brainer). I live in jersey.

Yeah, I have considered the weather in all three places. UVA and Emory are definitely more attractive to me in terms of warm weather.

I am not so sure if the diversity thing affects me too much. I currently go a high school that is very yellow and brown if you know what I mean, so going to a less diverse school doesn’t irk me quite as much. I guess I even welcome it in a sense.

I just really have no idea how to distinguish between these colleges in terms of their business programs. Thanks for your help chocolatenutz!

Can any students from these schools weigh in on their experiences?

If the FAs are about the same and money is not an issue, I would pick Emory, not because how much Emory is better than the other two now(academically they are too similar to pick apart), but because of Emory will become. Emory was not well known at all until the 80s when Coca Cola donated 200 million to the school. After some serious expansion(physically and academically - whole department buy out from Georgetown/UNC etc), it flew all the way to the top. With the current endowment(approx. 5.6 billion), Emory will definitely rise again.
