My son has received all of his decisions and has narrowed his choices to UVA and Johns Hopkins. He believes that he wishes to pursue an English / PoliSci-Gov't double major with a eye on going on to law school. Any input on justifying (or not) 3x the cost for Hopkins would be appreciated? Financial aid is not an option.

mmm

UVA's pre-law and poli-sci are very good

but JMU's bio/med is the best

so it's up to you :)

English is one of Virginia's better departments.

UVa seems an obvious choice here, though if you have not done so, it might be a good idea to discuss with reps of both schools to determine just how practical this double major would be at their school. 50/50 shot your S will change his mind, but why not check it out.
