UVM EA Class of 2023

@spacebunsweetie My D friend was told March

Anyone for the class of 2023 Nursing ?
Can’r tell about the HC, though she’s not interested in it anyway. SAT 1410, a ton of AP’s because that’s all the kids on the honors track can take as seniors (8 or so) and some college courses (Syracuse English, ASL)
20K Scholorship for us OOS… which is really still way too much to pay ( Quinnipiac was also a top choice for nursing and offered 30K and she doesn’t have to travel so far up to Vt.) Also accepted UMass Amherst Nursing. Waiting on NYU/Penn, both will likely be too costly as well ( she is our 3rd with the 1st now in law school $$$$)
Awarded a full scholorship at a very nice local Nursing program.

@oscar63 the email I got when I sent in my application said early February

@spacebunsweetie My D bf emailed his AO on Monday and she said March.

@oscar63 okay, thank you for letting me know!

OOO son accepted into mechanical engineering. $18k annual presidential scholarship. No honors invite. 3.8 W / 3.7 (UW). 1390 SAT. 4 year varsity sport. Moderate ECs.

My OOS son was also accepted into mechanical engineering with a $17k annual presidential scholarship. Weighted GPA 3.5, ACT 34, 1490 SAT. I dont think their stats are high enough for honors invite, at least not in engineering.

@RJA @JeanneAP Thanks for sharing stats. Are you ED, EA, or Reg decision?

Early Action

Accepted, EA, out of state, 15K a year, 3.35GPA 30 ACT

Accepted, EA, OOS from New York, 17K merit aid, 1230 SAT 4.0 GPA. Love this school, but need more $$$ to make it comparable to SUNY’s

@peteb98 Did you apply for financial aid? My D received grants on top of merit.

@kwajmama, it was EA.And he did do the supplemental “Why UVM” which noted he had visited the campus and detailed what about the campus and town that appealed to him. He also mentioned how his electives in school were geared toward engineering and how even his childhood past time (Legos).

Today is the day supposedly for those of us who had ED deferred.

Earlier today the same “decision will be Feb 22” was there. It has now changed, and seeing:

Awaiting Decision
Your application is under review, decisions will be released on December 13th.

I think this Dec 13 was the date of the original early decision, so something seems to be happening.

RD decisions start today at 5:00

Son Regular Decision accepted OOS Business. Bizarre that instead of Fall 2019 it said Spring 2020. 3.3 GPA 1260 SAT No Merit stated.

DD was accepted (ED deferred to RD). 1300 SAT. 3.5 GPA. No word of merit, but I would be surprised if something were not to come.

@FreshBizParent why bizarre? Many colleges offer spring admissions to some students who they might otherwise decline admission. It allows them to backfill spots of kids who decide to leave or don’t show up after registering. Check with admissions to see if he can attend commmunity college for fall semester & get credits transferred.

My daughter was waitlisted after being deferred after applying EA. It seems as if Vermont is very test focused and that was the weakest part of her application (1160 SAT). Fortunately she has some other strong choices.

@DumDeeDummm My assumption was if you get declined you must reapply again with updated proof of your status changing at a later date to get re-evaluated to see improvement. Most schools say if you are declined you can not reapply at that time. So UVM says your not good enough to attend in the Fall but you are just fine to attend for the spring without any more improvement? Spring admission moves UVM out of contention for us. That said I actually like that they do offer this deferred acceptance option for students. I just do not understand the criteria.
