Uvm student life

i’ve been admitted to uvm honors w/ a great scholarship and am considering attending the school. but, i’m not really super athletic. i love to ride my bike and walk around through nature, but i’ve never gone skiing in my life and i’m not really into hiking and stuff (although i kinda like kayaking but haven’t done it in years). i love the arts (listening to music, watching movies, sculpting, writing, reading, whatever) and am less of a patagonia type… is there still a lot of stuff for people like me to do there? i’m not adverse to nature at all, but hiking, rock climbing, white water rafting, etc are just not my thing. thanks!

There are plenty of outdoorsy students at UVM but that is certainly not the only type. My freshman does not ski (has gone on a few hikes) but has no lack of things to do. Burlington is a great, artsy, little city. I def recommend you visit, if possible, to get a feel. There’s a pottery studio on campus (not quite sculpting!).

@soitgoes Yes! I was just like you when I went to UVM and was super nervous that I would have to become “outdoor-sy” lol. But, UVM really and truly has so much going on outside of the outdoors. There is a really big art, music, and entertainment scene. UVM students have a variety of interests and over 200 clubs you can join to be a part of the community. If you’re considering UVM, I say go for it- it has the number 1 college town in the country!

Burlington, Vermont is a great little city. Consider staying during summer sessions to really enjoy the four seasons of Vermont.
