There is no such thing as a CS waitlist. I asked aos in the summer and it just doesn’t exist. Ppl who are on the waitlist were waitlisted to the college

Based on previous years and this years data, I think this is what they do if you appealed CS:
If they don’t like your appeal at all, they’ll reject you within 2 weeks of your appeal submission.
If they don’t dislike your appeal and think you are a potential student who they’ll accept, they’ll keep you waiting until April 29/ 30th. That day, if you don’t get the appeal back by around 12 or 1 pm, you are 90% likely to be rejected because they released them in batches in the last few years.
If they think you are an extraordinary student or you have some circumstance that they can’t ignore, they’ll give you the acceptance early ( before the end of apr). This is REALLY RARE!!!

I was thinking the same, @Avanti2. My son is on the waitlist for general admission and submitted an appeal. I was wondering if they are waiting to respond until they know their enrollment size better after May 1.

I’m just hoping cs appeal decisions come out before the May 1st deadline to accept offer. Also, just wondering, did most of you accepted your offer and committed to UW already or waiting on cs appeal decisions to come out before deciding?

Waiting on CS decision before deciding. Leaning towards another school OOS.
Students who were admitted to UW but not direct admit to Business were told in an email that their appeals would be considered AFTER May 1.
That would require a student to accept the offer to attend UW without knowing whether the direct appeal would be granted (and knowing that most appeals fail).
I suspect the same process/approach applies to CS.

I committed to UW pre-science already and waiting for the CS appeal decision.

Do you know if it was explicitly mentioned that they need to accept the offer from UW? Asking because in the past I have heard of people committing to another university and then switching to UW because their appeal was successful.
That wasn’t mentioned but I don’t know how you could switch to UW if you were not on the waitlist, but were an accepted student who missed the May 1 deadline to make a deposit and statement of intent to register.
From the UW Guidelines for special admission & appeal web page:
Admitted to UW, denied to computer science/computer engineering
Freshmen admitted to the UW, but not direct to major for computer science or computer engineering, may appeal their decision prior to April 15. Appeal decisions are typically made by late April.
I think that CS appeal results may happen before the May 1st deadline for committing to UW. It looks like the dates are different for Foster. From same webpage re. Foster. Decisions will be made as space is available and likely by May 15.
