UW Chemical Engineering

I’ve just been accepted into the University of Washington - Seattle. I had applied for Chemical Engineering but the offer is for undeclared engg. Is that the case with everyone for the batch of 2022 or just me?

Direct to any engineering major is a difficult lift. What you got is “direct to college.” This guarantees you a spot in an engineering major. Basically they’re giving you a “bump” in chances over the old system where you were competing for slots in engineering majors with the entire campus. If you make minimum academic standards, one of the engineering majors must accept you, but you are still competing a bit to get your first choice major.

Thank you so much!!

Indeed, direct to any engineering major is a difficult lift because it is no longer offered.

“All admitted Engineering students will be assigned ‘Engineering Undeclared’ as their major at the time of admission.”

Congratulations!

Thanks for the clarification! I didn’t realize direct to major was completely eliminated. I thought it just replaced pre-engineering.
