UW Class of 2021 Honors Program

Hi there,
I was wondering if any incoming freshman who applied to UW honors have heard back yet! Let me know, and good luck to all!!

Yeah, my acceptance letter told me I got into honors and also held another letter with more details

Haven’t heard from honors either…
@kgooner did you get an email or a letter in the mail?

Haven’t heard back.

I got accepted on the 22nd and it was in a separate email, it didn’t come with the acceptance since apparently the admissions to UW and to honors are completely separate. Apparently last night they sent out rejections though?

Has anyone else heard? I haven’t…

Daughter was put on waitlist for honors program today. Anyone have any idea of likelihood of acceptance? Email said 5050 applications for 225 students.

I too was placed on the honors waitlist. Website says that the likelihood of waitlist acceptance is 10%.

Thanks @Callandor.

I still haven’t heard back from honors. I did apply and I double checked my application to make sure they received my application (which they did). I didn’t get an email with rejection or acceptance. In the initial email they said they’d let us know between mid march and March 31st, but then the website says between mid march and mid april…has anyone else NOT heard back yet?

Son denied university honors, 3.92 GPA 35 ACT. He’s not quite sure where it went sideways.

@Magnetron – frustrating. Maybe they control it by intended major? or geographically? The whole college application process seems to have boiled down to just too many qualified people for not enough spots. There was a great WSJ article 3-30 on the front of the Life & Arts section about college applications/rejections – I liked the parent quote about “fit”.

I have a question about the Honors program. The website says:
Honors Options Available: With College Honors (Completion of Honors Core Curriculum and Departmental Honors); With Honors (Completion of Departmental Honors requirements in the major). See adviser for requirements.

So how are the freshman applicants placed into honors program at UW?
What would be the benefits of getting into Honors?

@galaxy8 I haven’t heard back either. I live in Michigan so I’m guessing it’s a geographical thing, but I wouldn’t know.

@Pri930 – you apply to the honors program when you first apply to the university (http://depts.washington.edu/uwhonors/apply/freshman/). I believe there is also the option for departmental honors if not accepted to honors prorgram freshman year.

There is also a second year admission to the Interdisciplinary Honors Program:

Regarding Departmental Honors and College Honors (completion of both Interdisciplinary and Departmental Honors), see:

Thank you @cbredear and @UWfromCA

It was in the physical letter. I’ve also received a bunch of follow up emails as welll
