I don’t want to share my GPA, but my WSA score was 4.5.

@just4ivaylo that sucks… you had an above avg wsa score

Too bad it didn’t do much for me. Good luck to everyone else.

I got rejected too. Sigh. My combined GPA was 3.67. Pre-app gpa was 3.68. But my wsa score was only a passing score.

sucks to hear coming from you @eraserc you’ve been really helpful answering my earlier threads.

Wow, that is a pretty high index score. Is anyone else here a transfer student?

I was accepted for the Accounting option! Of course, I am now a double degree student for Accounting and Economics already at the UW. My stats were as follows: CGPA 3.56, Pre-App GPA 3.6, and WSA average of 5. Don’t lose hope people; those bastards denied me during spring! Practice and memorize the methods of writing the WSA essays, and you will get you admitted. They emphasized the WSA to me as being the most important thing for people below 3.8+ CGPA/Pre-App GPA.

This is probably my one and only time applying. I don’t have time to wait until Fall 2015 to apply again. I can’t even believe people are getting rejected with a 3.7.

@mochiman24 Did you notice a change in your unofficial transcript before and after you were accepted? I am a transfer student and right now for under college it says “Business School” and for major it says “Bus Admin (Finance)” Do you think this means I got it?

I have a pretty low Combined GPA around 3.3-3.4 because of a rough 1st year in pre engineering. But after switching directions Soph years, I was able to get a Pre-App GPA of 4.0 and I think I did pretty well on the WSA. I’m very nervous.

No problem haha. Hope you’ll get some good news foster soon!

@200pants Actually, my transcript still says that I have not been admitted to the Foster School of Business!xD The unofficial transcript thing did not work for me. So for those of you that don’t have it yet online, don’t lose hope. However, I have heard that if a person (specifically a transfer student) gets the listing, then they should be admitted, which is great news for you. I also felt good about the WSA, and I got a 5, so I’m sure you’ll hear some positive news over the next few days. They have been sending acceptance letters all day, and mine came not too long ago. They are definitely notorious for being slow with the responses, especially with transfer students, which is unprofessional given that they call themselves a business school!xD

I am absolutely blown away. I was denied tonight. I will be scheduling a meeting with an adviser.

Admissions Factor Weight Applicants Admitted Your Factors
Combined GPA 40% 3.41 3.57 3.66
Pre-application GPA 25% 3.5 3.68 3.8
WSA Score 35% 3.66 4.22 4.25

I am above average in every category as well as my decision letter saying
“Also considered were extraordinary circumstances – such as very high recent grades when prior college work was weak and personal hardships or noteworthy accomplishments that you described in your personal statement.”

It does not make very much sense…

What the heck, that blows ^

I was accepted, my stats:

Admissions Factor Weight Applicants Admitted Your Factors
Combined GPA 40% 3.41 3.57 3.86
Pre-application GPA 25% 3.5 3.68 3.66
WSA Score 35% 3.66 4.22 4.25

Wow! so we have the same WSA and an interchangeable difference in Cumulative and Pre-App… makes no sense? Either my essay must have been that bad or there is some other factor I am un-aware of…

I’m really surprised you were rejected @seatownclown the main difference in your stats is that Combined GPA is worth 15% more than Pre-App and that is where Juanita shined.

.

Accepted. Finance Option.

Admission Factor | Weight | Applicants | Admitted | Your Factors
Combined GPA (40%) | 3.41 | 3.57 | 3.27
Pre-App GPA (25%) | 3.50 | 3.68 | 3.48
WSA Score (35%) | 3.66 | 4.22 | 5.25

I have a horrific GPA (in both cases, they were both below admitted average), and I sort of anticipated that. How I attempted to remedy this situation:

1.) Talk to the advisers in Foster UPO, frequently.
2.) Getting involved in Foster, joining an organization.
3.) Writing substantially on the Personal Statement and revise, revise, revise. I re-wrote mine 8+ times.
4.) PRACTICE for the WSA. Take the WSA before you apply. Attend the workshops.

I was accepted with the Accounting option.

Admissions Factor Weight / Applicants / Admitted / Your Factors
Combined GPA 40% / 3.4 / 3.57 / 3.76
Pre-application GPA 25% / 3.5 / 3.68 / 3.61
WSA Score 35% / 3.66 / 4.22 / 4.5

I spent quite a lot of time preparing my personal statement, and I think it helped that I was able to discuss a lot of the hands-on business experience I have had.

This may be a silly question, but does anyone know how they calculate the Pre-app GPA? It sounds a bit lower than I anticipated.

@Lindsey52 I think the pre-app GPA is avg of English comp, econ, accounting, and math. In the application, did you put the higher GPA of each category in the section where you put your pre-app GPA?

By the way, I’m just curious, did you answer all four prompts of the personal statement? The business advisor suggested me to answer the ones I like. But when I went to the workshop, they suggested me to answer all.

@eraserc Oh okay. In that case, that might be accurate, but I haven’t taken the time to calculate it myself. I’m not sure if I remember entering a number. I wonder if they simply calculated it based on my transcripts.

I did answer all four prompts, but I went more in depth on the ones that applied to me the most.
