UW Madison Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

Haven’t heard of any applicants who were outright rejected. Anyone else know of rejections?

Does anyone know if scholarships/merit aid is released with ‘regular’ financial aid, or is it at a later date?

I know someone down the hall whose UW Madison decision was “rejected” for computer engineering. Succinct and very clear wording. :+1:

Unfortunately I had one child outright rejected, I also had one deferred

Yes heard one of my daughter’s friend was rejected. We are from IL.

Also curious about timing of scholarship/merit aid packages. UW is first choice for admitted OOS D22, but she has IS acceptances for much less…the OOS price tag is understandable, but may be out of reach w/o any discounts. Has UW historically granted any scholarship/merit aid packages to OOS students who don’t have significant financial need?

I have not heard of a lot of merit based scholarships available to OOS or even in-state students. I have a child who is a current Freshman at Madison and we looked at the scholarship portal last year and couldn’t find anything they would be eligible for. I would suggest your daughter take a look at the scholarship hub on her portal and see if she meets any of the criteria. On the plus side my child is loving Madison!

If you look on Madison’s website:

Scholarships are an excellent way to help reduce the costs of higher education. Similar to grants, they are considered a type of gift aid and are not required to be repaid. At UW-Madison, almost every department, school, and college offers scholarships for students based on academic information, extracurricular activities, and financial aid.

To match to, apply for, and accept campus scholarships, please log into the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH) using your UW Netid and password.

Please check out the resources below for FAQ, scholarship coordinator contact information, and additional national scholarship opportunities.

scroll up to the link I posted a few days ago- I was curious about this as well. I included the site I found stating <5 scholarships are offered for OOS students

My son was rejected. OOS. His brother is a sophomore there.

I was deferred from EA but now my application status says “Complete- Early Action” instead of “Deferred Decision” like it said before. I also have a new “student eforms” widget that crashes when I try to open it. Is this happening to anyone else?

My son has the same. “Deferred Decision” now says “Complete Early Action” and he also has the “student eforms” that appeared today. No idea what it means.

Yes, several

My son has same. Complete-early action and the e-forms also. Maybe because they submitted their 1st semester grades and application updates and are back to waiting?

haven’t submitted my first semester grades yet but still have these updates. I’m guessing it means that they’ve officially transitioned to the regular decision evaluation process but idk

For admitted students the first round of financial aid is starting to show in the site.

Check under “Student Center”/“Financial Aid”/

There is one new accordion tab on the left called “Awards”. In the summary you could see your financial aid offer.

My daughter got her financial aid package. I can start to relax a little now knowing she’s accepted to a great school and it looks like it will be affordable.

Were you initially deferred or accepted?
