UW Madison or purdue

Hi guys. I applied as an international student from asia, and i ve got into uw madison; Purdue, however, hasnt sent any sort of intimation. Other than these, i also got into penn state.
My major is going to be engineering. i know purdue has a really good engineering school, and uw madison is a good school overall. Most people have told me that uw madison is better. But
1-do you think it can match the standards and quality of engineering school at purdue?
2-How are the research opportunities at both schools?
3-Where co-ops and internships are easily available.
4-which college gives out more scholorships?
5- which area is more international friendly?
Please discuss all of these questions in detail. I am really confused. Thanks.

Anyone? Please?

50 minutes and you’re bumping us? chill out, hazy. you asked for a complicated response and it’s a beautiful day here on the East Coast B-) The most important question from my perspective is which of these is the least expensive to you? second question is what engineering will you do? Answer my questions and I’ll try to help.

@jkeil911 money is not a problem. I havent decided which engineering will i do, but i am leaning towards mechanical engineering.

What does this mean? “Purdue, however, hasn’t sent any sort of intimation.”?

Why are you asking about average scholarships when you say money is not a problem? Anyway, at this point the average doesn’t matter, only the offer you get, right?

@BrownParent
Its been more than 1.5 month and i havent got a decision from purdue, but i am sure i ll get in.
The expenses at uw madison are $6k less than those at purdue. I dont care if i have to pay 6k more for purdue ( if purdue is better). All i am saying is that if a college gives out a lot of scholorships in sophomore, junior and senior year it will be easier for me to pay. Otherwise money is not a big issue here.

Once you are admitted your financial package will usually stay the same for 4 years. So usually you will know up front if you are given any award. Some universities do have departmental money they give, I don’t know about these universities, but it can’t be relied on to get funds later–it’s just not likely.

I can’t tell you about opportunities for jobs/coops for internationals at those colleges. You will have to contact them.

I have been to Madison and it is really a nice place to live. It is very friendly with a large college scene but also a small city with a lot going on. There is a good amount of internationals at the college. Even in the town there is a Laotian community and I saw they operate a couple of restaurants. Cost of living is pretty low, depending on how much you go out and spend. There are lots of opportunities for free cultural stuff, music.

I’m pretty sure they try to make sure undergraduates can get involved in research. Being a large research uni with a lot of federals money for that helps. Check the department pages.

Bump .
Please answer the 2nd and 3rd. Ty
