UW Seattle CS/ Alevels

Hello, I have been admitted to UW Seattle but did not receive Direct admission to CS and I intend to declare it as my major at the end of my sophomore year. My question is how hard will it be to get into CS? Will my chances be affected because I’m an international student?
I do have 3 A’s in Alevels in Physics Maths and Chemistry. I do know i will get 45 quarter credits for those but how will these credits be converted into GPA? and will they count towards my GPA when declaring my major? Will they give me an edge when declaring my major?

Hi, @Aotdnpp , those are excellent questions. I suggest that you contact the department:

My understanding is that the few dozen direct admissions are given almost exclusively to Washington residents, with maybe a couple given to other US residents. Thus, it is not a reflection of your ability to enter the major through regular admission (perhaps at the end of freshman year) or to succeed in this field of study. Based on your academic record, I like your chances.

I also note that the UW has many international students, and I am sure a large number of them are in the CSE and other STEM departments.

Good luck!
