UW-Seattle, Transfer admission chances

Hello All-
I've been lurking the forums of this site for a while now, and I decided to take the plunge and ask for some help regarding my chances of admission to UW-Seattle as a transfer student to complete my degree in Political Science. A bit about me:

*I'm a service member, doing search and rescue for the USCG, I will be finished with my enlistment this August, so I would like to start UW in Jan (WIN2014).

*I'm a non-traditional/ returning student. I'll be 29 when/if I am admitted, also, a new mom

*It's been six years since I was enrolled as a student, but my cumulative GPA was a 3.85, with 81 semester credit hours

*All my course work would be transferred from an OOS school (Texas A&M- Corpus Christi), but I'm a WA resident now

I have a pretty extensive artistic resume also. Between leaving college and enlisting in the service, I made my living as a spoken word artist for about 3 years. I went on a national tour, had some museum sponsored speaking engagements in Texas, competed in Poetry Slam on a national level.

So I guess my questions are as follows:

*Am I competitive candidate? Is being from OOS going to hurt me?
*Will the 6 year gap in my education act as a hindrance?
*Should I mention spoken word in my personal statement? Or would it be more prudent to instead focus on military service? Both?

aaaaaand, of course, would anyone be willing to read my statement when I am finished with it? I'm a decent editor, but not with my own work (it feels like I'm hurting my babies when I delete things from my writing :), so I would totally be willing to trade editing with someone.

Thanks!
