UW Seattle vs UW Bothell

Hi everyone, I was admitted to UW Seattle but got rejected from foster because my WSA score was less than 3. However, I was admitted to the business program at UW Bothell. I would prefer to attend the Seattle campus. What is the best of course of action? Should I go to UW Seattle, take a few classes and than reapply for foster in summer/fall? Or should I just go to UW Bothell since i'm already in the program? Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If your Pre-App GPA and Cum. GPA were at or above this admission cycle’s average stats, I would definitely go to UW Seattle, prepare very well for the WSA and apply to Foster again. If not, just go with Bothell.

thanks seatac, I have been leaning towards UW Seattle as well. My pre-app GPA and Cum. GPA were above the average stats of the students admitted. I’m concerned about the WSA. Even if I do prepare for it, I’m worried I may be assigned a topic that I do not understand. I have been stressing out because I need to make a decision by this Friday. If I attend UW Seattle, are there any classes that you recommend me taking? Perhaps easy classes that may boost up my GPA?

Well, I don’t know much about other than business classes at UW Seattle. You can probably take BCMU 301. It’s taught at the business school and you might find this class useful. And maybe also some GPA boosters like Scandinavian Studies.

The whole point of the WSA is not to test your knowledge of a particular subject, it’s to test your ability to analyze the presented information, question it, and express an opinion about it. Basically, they are testing your BSing skills. Now that you know what a real WSA is, you can probably prepare for it better.

alright I’ll consider taking that class. How big are the classes for upper division courses in business?

Yea now that I know what its like, hopefully I will be better prepared the next time I take it.
If you don’t mind me asking, what was your WSA score?

So if you were in my position, you would definitely go to UWS and reapply to foster?

It depends on the class. BCMU is smaller, maybe around 40sh. Other classes can be up to 80 (general) and around 55-60 for major-related.

My WSA was 4.5, 0.4 above the average for that admission cycle.

I would definitely go to UWS if I were in your position. I was also freaking out about the WSA, it was the only thing that could’ve hold me back from getting admitted. However, I spent quite some time on it (in the region of 12-15 hours, maybe more) and did surprisingly well. When I was transferring from a CC I also applied to WSU, UW Bothell, Central (and was accepted into every one of them), but at some point I just decided to keep applying to Foster until I get admitted.

If WSA is THE only thing holding you back, I don’t see a reason why you can’t prepare for it and do well. As long as you get above 3.0, you have a good chance of being admitted if you also write a good personal statement.

I know so many people who do not get accepted into the business school as freshman and they just kept reapplying! Most of them are in Foster now and I am pretty confident that if you continued to apply you would get in no problem. I know a lot of people that applied during their freshman year. Definitely UWS!

Sorry for the late reply seatac. i appreciate the input from all of you. ive been really busy with the whole transition of moving to seattle. I decided to attend UW Seattle over UW Bothell and WWU. I can’t seem to access my decision letter right now but I believe my stats for winter were 3.66/3.79/2.5. The advisor told me only 30% were admitted for this winter. Hopefully summer/fall will be easier. I will definitely prepare better for the WSA and hopefully I will get in.
I’ve been having a difficult time at this point registering for classes. All the classes that i want are full.
Btw, when you said kept applying to foster, did you not get in the first try as well?
Is UW much harder than CC?
