<p>I want to join a sorority at UW, but my parents don't want to pay for on campus housing when I can save money by driving to school. I was wondering if it was possible to join a sorority and not live on campus, and still be able to do all the chapter events. - Thanks</p>
<p>My daughter just graduated from the U, and was recruitment co-ordinator for her sorority. I asked her your question, and she says living in is pretty much a requirement. You wouldn’t be able to join during "formal recruitment’ in September, but houses with room later in the year would let a commuter join later in “informal” recruitment. </p>
<p>Depending on how far away you live, it might be difficult to be involved in a lot of the non-mandatory activities.</p>
<p>Thanks for the info! I spend all of my time on campus since I take both morning and night classes, so being there for events won’t be a problem.</p>
