Okay. The waiting is tiresome…But we all know its not over until we have the letter…whichever one it may be.
It is. I’m not disappointed in the waiting, but I question their notification period. Many universities sent their transfer decisions weeks ago, and expected an immediate answer. If I don’t hear back today then I plan to commit to a different university that was kind enough to defer my decision so I can wait for UW. It would just be more convenient for students to hear earlier, and if that means applying earlier then I would have been okay with that.
I question it too. I mean I got my other acceptance letters in mid May and responses are due July 1st. I just don’t understand the whole method.
@Brianna23 Do any of the universities that you applied to start in August? I have waited so long for UW, and the colleges I got accepted to start in August. Most classes are full, I assume housing is near gone, not much time to figure out finances, and moving. Are you in a similar situation? Just want to know what others plan to do —
None of mine start in August they both start on September 2nd. I know I’m pretty sure I’m at a loss for housing and classes. Not to mention the departments at those schools for what I’m majoring in is so small to begin with. My chances are literally fading away everyday it feels like. Honestly, I’ve put hope in getting into the UW because I went to California to tour these schools and they didn’t have everything I needed to get to where I wanted to be. I’m honestly not sure what I’m going to do. It’s like do I put hope in a school that offers everything and let those other offers go and risk not getting in…? It’s confusing. But wow… August that’s rough… I mean that’s no time to waste right there. Especially preparing to move. So you said you were planning to accept those one of the other university offers if you don’t hear back by today?
I attended a webinar for the program I am trying to get into last night from 5:30-6:30. The director was pretty open about the state of notifications, and made it clear that any delay at this point is on general admissions having a delay with transfer applicants. She went on further to say that they admit the large majority of all applicants, given that they are still building the program. Even students that have past issues like academic probation, provided they show positive change.
I am significantly more at ease after attending that webinar.
@SeattlePea did you receive an email notification from UW when your transcript was uploaded?
Yeah, I completely understand. I live in California and I agree that the UC system is skewed. I didn’t want to do my undergrad at one. I also felt the UW was the only university that fit my criteria, and I suppose my wishful thinking got in the way. The risk is really high, but we both waited so long that it doesn’t even matter about our other universities at this point because classes are gone. They will remain gone, you know? I’m going to commit tomorrow if I don’t hear today. If anything, I can just revoke my acceptance if UW comes through. I’m hesitant to do that because I don’t want to lose money that I need (deposit for enrollment and housing.)
Worst case scenario, I would attend my CC for one more semester. That is something I would like to avoid though. I understand your position! It’s really hard to commit somewhere that you know is not the best fit for you, especially when you’re still waiting for a school that you’d love to attend.
My understanding is that International students are notified by email, and domestic students by US mail. Some majors seem to email folks and tell them they were accepted though, in addition to the normal process.
@CallMeADawg what program is that?
Integrated Social Sciences, Online

Pretty cool program, and its $199/credit in-state and $219 OOS. Seriously inexpensive UW BA degree.
@Cole52 Yeah, the only real reason I applied to the schools in California was because I wanted to be closer to my family. It would be great to be close to them again but to me having what I need education wise is important too. I feel like it took me long enough to get to this point. The UW is honestly the only school I applied to in Washington. I really don’t like any of the other universities up here(I’m sure they are great for others - just not me).
You made a good point those classes basically are gone and then think about it this way… we’d have to go to school even longer because we didn’t have all the necessary classes. I know if worse comes to worse, I’ll go back to CC for another quarter and reapply. I mean if at first you don’t succeed, try again! It would be annoying to go back but only in the sense that I’ve been in CC for almost 3 years and every year the kids keep getting younger and younger and I’m like I was your age 5 years ago what am I doing with my life. I’ve always had a good time regardless of the age differences though.
It’s been really hard for me to find any schools with my program because my major is Asian Studies with a concentration of Korean (I’m going to teach abroad and eventually start a business) and it’s basically like finding a green tree in the desert.
hey guys so my transcript loaded today at 11 am. what does that mean. did i get in? I still don’t want to get too excited
Yes, if your transcript loaded you are in. Congrats.
@member786 I’m not sure. I mean based on others posts it would seem so but I don’t want to confirm that and be wrong. That would be wonderful if it means you did though! If so, Congrats!
I certainly hope so guys. The wait was starting to get to me. I really hope everyone else hears soon as well. I was a bit confused though because i applied for major in psychology. On the transcript however it says major is pre social sciences. What does that mean
@Brianna23 I definitely understand the age thing. I took time off after high school to pursue a different career that would not be possible at an older age. It does bother me sometimes, but in the end it was my choice. One of the schools I got accepted to has your major with a concentration in Korean! I believe they are very well known for their asian studies. I could be getting it mixed up with asian history though. Check out Indiana University-Bloomington! The school doesn’t have half of what UW has, but the education is great if you don’t get sucked into the party scene they have there.
this wait is excruciating
No joke. I hope we’re all okay, but I’m getting scared…
@member786 That means either your major did not accept you, but the college did - or your major has not decided yet. Did you apply directly to Psych as well, or did you just put Psych on your UW app?
