No answer yet. I’m a summer applicant. My heart sinks every day
Dying…Hopefully we will know the decision by tomorrow.
Any news for folks?
Nothing
This is insanity. I can’t imagine UW is very competitive with similar caliber universities. No one with other equal options would wait this long… I think they need to reevaluate my application because holistically speaking, all of the cells in my body have turned over and i’m technically not the same person I was when I first applied. It’s interesting how blatant and open UW is about punishing the people who want to give them money for only 2 years instead of 4.
Woah, tell us how you really feel! But yeah totally, whoever said 4 stages of waiting was spot on. If they take much longer there’s gonna be a stage 5 holistic internet mob. What I don’t understand is: all of the people who, despite UW seattle being their first choice, end up accepting elsewhere because they have to notify the other school, make their stats for % of offers who enroll go way down! That’s like a major demerit for when they do college rankings. So this system literally benefits NO ONE.
I know my chance is really slim for engineering application with a GPA of 3.1.
However, I did explain them my circumstance: my wife got laid off and I had to work 50 hours a week to keep things in balance.
Well, at least I got accepted to EWU.
90% chance is I got denied but I applied anyway.
That’s exactly my point. There are two types of transfer students in this scenario. One who is applying to UW as their #1 school and are desperately waiting for an answer, and one type of student who UW is just an option amongst many. UW is pushing it to its absolute limit for either of these students to wait. I just can’t conceive how someone from like…Yakima for example would even bother waiting for UW when WSU summer quarter starts in three weeks, they have already been accepted, and they have their financial aid package, and now they have at least a couple of weeks to move, find a part time job, all of the minutiae involved in living a life. It’s just the height of snobbery. If I didn’t live 1/2 mile away from campus going to UW wouldn’t even be a rational decision for me. It’s strictly by geographical convenience that i’m still waiting on UW. So UW has made it very clear, the only outsiders they want, they don’t want to be from America, and the only locals they want are the ones that will pay them for four years. At least is terms of priority. Just like all things holistic this application process is a complete fraud. If I was an alumni and was aware this was the application process I would be absolutely livid how inefficient this system is, and the talent the university risks losing because of it.
I’m afraid I will be rejected. UW should have quickened their admission process time. Summer applicants should have known the decisions by now.
I’m thankful that i am already part of the uw system, so i have already registered for summer quarter. I just want to know if i’m accepted sooner so that i’ll be able to register for fall classes at the seattle campus. Honestly this wait is ridiculous and summer applicants should at least be able to know the decision more than a month before the quarter starts
@RShackelford Like you alluded to, college is big business just like everything else, and international students pay A LOT more than in state. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I’m at BC right now, and the only reason they are able to provide a frankly awesome level of education and resources for crazy cheap is because they can supplement that with all the international students who pay WAY more. I totally feel your frustration, and it’s kind of like, we all waited and worked for two years so that when we did apply we could be actually be ready, and your seriously going to make us wait even more? I have a feeling that when big envelopes show up, all our anger will dissipate pretty quickly lol, so I guess we should just try and be excited for that? (This is what I try and tell myself)
@huk888 do you know how they usually deal with international/in-state CC transfers? it’s kind of a odd intersection to be at, but maybe you are the ideal applicant because you come from within the system, yet you pay international student tuition?
I’m pretty certain no one has heard anything. But just asking anyways! Anyone hear?
@caking0923 nope…neither UW bothell nor Seattle.
I just made a 100$ deposit to my backup school EWU for electrical engineering. Today is the last day to do so.
The worst case is I’ll just lose 100$ if I get accepted to UW.
I went to EWU my first 2 years! Loved my professors. I moved back home when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. But loved the classes. Smaller schooler than uw but Great teachers
Any summer transfer try calling the admission??
Yes they said my admission decision hadn’t been finalized and that they would be mailing out my decision -hopefully- in the next two weeks…
okay i just called too. Apparently the admission just generated the letters today! If we receive it this Friday that means we are accepted, if no letter this week means rejected… Thats for Summer transfer into Public Health HIHIM.
Myuw is unavailable now. I think they are updating our decisions lol
Yep. I think so too…Keep our fingers crossed.
my friend got a rejection in the mail today… she’s a bothell transfer just like me and i’m a bit scared. she has way more credits than i do but we have radically different life circumstances
