I want to transfer to UW from Miami University in Ohio. I am a Psychology major looking to end with a 3.4 this semester. I believe the transfer average is somewhere around 3.5 and Psychology should also be less competitive. When I apply (with less than forty credits) they will require the ACT which I got a 35 on (will this help much?), also I am going to apply for Psychology internships. Asides from this, what activities should I focus on this semester that UW is known to favor (clubs, jobs, executive positions)? Thank you very much and good luck to all the transfers out there!!!
Step one is always to read the transfer worksheet for your major

Transferring is something you do only if you have a REALLY good reason for it. Prestige isn’t one of them. The issue with transferring is that you’re going to lose credits. Going to an out of state school makes it even worse. There’s only so much you can take out in student loans. If you add another year to your degree, you could find yourself triple-screwed toward the end of your degree.
Also, out of state schools are triple the cost of tuition. Paying that much for prestige can cripple your future.
I am actually a resident of Seattle, Miami is the out of state school for me and the in state tuition is one of the reasons I’d like to transfer
If you really want to make sure you get in-state tuition, try a few other in-state schools. Western and Central both have good psychology programs. Depending on how merit aid Miami gave, WUE tuition might be cheaper than OOS in Ohio.
