UW Undergraduate Business Program

Does anyone know the acceptance rates into the UW Business school for an undergraduate degree? I'm kind of debating between UW and Gonzaga because I'm afraid if I go to the UW I might not get into the program I want, (Accounting). Any information will really help. Thanks.

Hey, I either read or heard that the acceptance rate into the UW Business school is about 50%. I'll make sure to post the source if I run across it again.

Personally, I would choose UW over Gonzaga any day. Career wise, I think you'd have more opportunities in Seattle than Spokane (bigger city = greater opportunity). Plus, UW is the best university in WA, heck in the PNW, so it would make sense that employers would seek graduates and students from the U to join their companies.

I don't want to come off as hatin' on Gonzaga, because it is a great school. UW's Business School is one of the best in the country so yes, admissions is competitive, but we are all still in highschool so its kind of hard to guess what life is going to be like in the next couple of years. However, I agree that it is hard trying to plan your future when you're also worrying about "not making it." Promise yourself though that you won't limit yourself due to fears of not getting in.

I'm sorry if I sound too "preachy," but hopefully the stats I posted help. Like I said, if I run into something more beneficial, I'll make sure to post for you. Good luck w/ your decision!

My D is about to graduate in accting from the UW. She has enjoyed the Dept. and the major. She is on vacation right now, but I will ask her about details when I see her. To the best of my knowledge, she applied at the end of soph. year. She (and friends) were quite nervous as they also understood the admit rate is about 50%. I will clarify what type of grades the friends had, but all (about 6 friends) were admitted. I think grades were in the 3.4-3.7 range.
D has become surprisingly involved in the accting. frat./society at the U. (Beta....) It is very active and provides all kinds of opportunities to get involved with businesses in the area. She always has some activity to attend. The big 4 accting firms pull VERY strongly from graduates. She knows multiple people at each of the firms--knows them well. They seem to be deeply involved with activities within the acct. dept. This amount of activity may go on at other schools also. I can't say. All I know is that D found it very easy to stay in line with what needs to be done, and when, with regards to classes, resumes, contacts, interviews, leadership opportunities, etc.
I will give more detail after I speak with her! Good luck. Both are good schools.

Hey caseyatbat, I sent you an email in response to the last one you sent me. For some reason, I couldn't send it directly to your email account so I had to do it through CC. Hopefully you got it...
