Hey there,
Right now, I am seriously considering transferring to UW. I've read many great things about the school.

As a Finance major, I need some insights and opinions on UW's undergrad Business program, since I will have to dish out a lot of moolah if I do choose to transfer here, is it worth it for me as an out of state student? Also which campus is best for Business majors?

US News and World Report ranked UW's undergrad business program number 22nd in 2005, and for undergraduate finance programs number 15 in 2005. When you see these kind of rankings, they are for the Seattle flagship campus.

I was an undergrad accounting major so I can only speak to accounting, but I have heard that the school doesn't really push students towards I-Banks as much. There is an undergrad finance student organization to get involved in and network with professionals. Alot of top finance majors seem to end up at Washington Mutual and maybe Bank of America and a few wealth management firms. They do have a couple of really good faculty members in the Finance department I know....you can go to the UW Business School website and look at the faculty profiles.

There is a b-school grade curve. It should be a 3.2 mean for 300 level classes and a 3.4 mean for 400 level classes. Not bad at all compared to those in bio or chem....those curves are really bad.

It's a no-brainer to go UW for business if you are in-state but if you are OOS you should look first at public schools where you live.

When I went to orientation, the powerpoint show for business said something about being the number 8 business school in the nation, maybe the world. I forget which one, because I remember number 8. Probably nation. Who knows.
