UW vs UCSB for ChemE?

Hello,

I applied as a chemistry major for both of these schools, got admitted into both, and realized that I should have applied for chemical engineering. I live in washington, and I get a free ride to the UW if I choose to attend. I can afford UCSB, but is it worth the price I have to pay? (33k, I believe… w/ FA). Also, is it easy to change into the chemE department once I attend the schools?

I’m also considering going to med school in the future, and I feel that UW would be the better option, money wise. But I heard that UCSB is a great school for chemical engineering. Is it worth the price tag?

Hm… A free ride sounds like a great deal, especially if you plan on med school.

I don’t know a ton about UW, but I have heard that it can be difficult to transfer into engineering stuff period at UCSB. Are you able to attend the visit day on the 11th? You could get more information about UCSB’s programs that way, and maybe talk to a counselor or two.
