I'm a freshman student at a non-Washington state community college. I am also a Washington state resident. I am considering transferring. I want to know how difficult it is to transfer as a bioengineering major to the college, assuming I have met all of the requirements? Does anyone have any experience with BioE at this school? Also, I noticed that there is a BME Society at UW but no BME major. Does anyone know about UW and BME?

Bring up my post.

Bring up my post. :(

I dunno about BioE, but my bro is a Biology major up in UW. I heard there is an INCREDIBLE grade deflation there due to how certain professors grade the class. Since UW has #1 Medical (primary care) School in the nation, the feeder majors (which includes Biology and Bioengineering) are the primary victims of such grading policy.

For example, unlike many other schools in the nation, UW puts into the factor what percentage you get in courses to come up the GPA. Usually if you get an A but with below 95% or so, your grade point for that course is not a 4.0, but something like 3.8 or 3.7. Due to this factor, You need to literally get 98% or above in ALL the courses to maintain a 4.0 GPA.

That's as far as I know about the killer bio/bioengineering program at UW.

Thanks dhl3.

Does anyone have any other information?

Okay, does anyone have ANY information about the UW College of Engineering?

I think all "plus/minus" schools do that. An =94/95-97, and an A+ is a 98-100
