Hello,I'm applying for UWCs this year and one of my main concerns for choice of college would be the academic side of things. I was wondering which of the UWC colleges are better academically? My personal favorite is Adriatic due to the location

I believe LPCUWC has one of the highest average scores, with an avg of 37.53pts (2013). Maastricht students got 34pts on avg (2012) and Atlantic students 36pts on avg (2012)

btw does anyone know the avg ib scores of Adriatic, RCN, and other UWC schools? i just couldnt seem to find them anywhere.

also, which uwc colleges send the most students to us universities (i’m aiming for ucla or ucb)/ offer the most support for us unis? thanks!

At UWC-Atlantic College I was surprised by both how rich the resources were in terms of the faculty and class sizes and by how many students were not as academically inclined as I had expected. I noticed that AC took down their statistics for the latest exam results; now it only describes the program but includes no actual exam results. Most of the faculty and subjects are fabulous. Most students study far less than I had expected.

One resource that I found somewhat lacking for first years at AC is study space. Many students have no desks in their small dorm rooms. Many dormitories or houses have only one small room for quiet study. The library has been closed for a while for renovations. Only some second years and no first year students can get a study carrel in the castle. AC is rich in resources but few students seem to miss having space to study.

Mahindra states that their exam results will only be posted on campus. Some at Mahindra want to leave the IB altogether and are starting to explore this.

I did some analysis of the USA university placements of all Davis Scholars. There were significant differences between campus until I restricted the data set to Davis Scholars from the US. Since all the Davis Scholars should be admitted to a UWC through the same USA national committee, it suggested to me that the value added of each UWC is similar. Some schools like Li Po Chun may have many more academically oriented students with higher IB scores and more highly selective university enrollments. Unless the USA national committee tries to send its academically strongest nominees to schools that are weaker academically, it seems that a self motivated, well prepared students can succeed academically at any UWC.

If you’d like to see the data that I culled about Davis Scholar USA university enrollments by year, home country, and UWC campus, PM me. When you look at the Davis Scholar profiles, keep in mind that not all UWC students who attend university or college in the USA are Davis Scholars. At Atlantic College, the overall USA university destinations are not as strong or impressive as if one looks only at the Davis Scholars from AC and assumes they are representative of all AC students.
