V. IMPORTANT, please help! 4/5 AP's next (senior) year??

Hi,
i'm new to this community but i am primarily on here to get feedback.
I'm in a period of indecision, i dont know whether to take 4 or 5 Advanced Placement courses next year, senior year. I am most definitely taking:
Latin 2
AP European History (online, because my school doesnt offer it)
AP Government and Politics
Here's how the rest of the list goes:
AP Human Geography/Honors Turning Points
AP English 12/H. English 12
AP Stats/AP Calc AB

Now, i want to be an International Relations/European Studies major so i know taking more social studies courses will be beneficial.

The problem with my state, in order to enter the UNC college system, is the 4th year of math need to be eiether an AP Calc (AB/BC) or AP Stats. I am good at math (A/B student) but the Calculas and Statistics teachers at my school are all terrible so i am reluctant to take an AP course with one of them, because H. Pre Calc is even hard for me b/c of their teaching style. I wish that i could take like an Honors Trig course but that's unavailable.

I am a great English student, i love to write, even on my own, but i've heard that AP Eng. 12 is a bear so i don't know if i want to take it with an AP math plus if i do infact take 5 AP's...

I have a 4.7 weighted gpa and i am in APUSH and AP eng 11 (language) now. I also won the Student of the Year award when i took H. World History. Is 5 AP's too much for senior year? Would it benefit me to take 3 AP social studies classes? Should i take Honors English to lighten my load?
Thanks.
-Sylvia

Please respond guys, i really need some input, my class choices are due by the 1st of February, thanks

It’s all relative. I’m taking 8 right now and doing just fine. I know a few people who have taking 11 (i.e., 3 self-study) and done much better across the board. I also know a few people who struggle with just one or two. It’s more or less about time management and how much you actually are willing to do for whatever you’re trying to accomplish. Are you trying to impress a few admissions officers? You might want to just ask your GC if your schedule will be considered “most rigorous” on a school report. Do you want college credit or “advanced placement”? You aren’t going to get any benefit from an honors course in that case. Finally, how much rigor are you willing to undertake to prepare yourself for your next academic level, and do you reasonably think you can handle an extra AP course? Nobody on this site can answer those questions for you, so just think it over a little while.

I think that i have come to a decision, after talking to my parents and my counselor. I will take 5 AP’s next year. It’s more or less from a desire to learn than impressing colleges. I mean i’d love to impress colleges but i have a passion for learning.

IMO, I think you should take 5 AP classes. At the moment I’m taking 5 as well. It shows the colleges that you don’t want to take it easy and that you want to challenge yourself.

If you feel like you are struggling with the math, seek help early. That’s all I would add.

AP Stats is a half year college course taught over a whole year. It’s easier than a college course because it’s half the pace. If it takes you where you need to go, go with that.

AP Euro can be pretty substantial. An online course will make you learn the whole thing. That and AP English might be the tough ones. The others, not so much.

yeah, think that i am leaning towards the 5 with Stats instead of Calc, i am also starting to read the AP english 12 books, well at least hoping to, so maybe it’ll lighten my load.
