Vaccine Enthusiasm

Feeling grateful for the vaccines against SARS-COV-2. Benefits outweigh risks for me & I am thankful that I and my family could get vaxxed. We’ve been enjoying more gatherings and outings.
Thought could CC have thread celebrating COVID vaccines, COVID essential workers, the testers, the jabbers, the researchers, the transporters.
Look forward to hearing about trials.
Wish more countries had more vax so they could open more.

March 29th, the day that I received my Pfizer vaccine, goes up there as one of the happiest days of my life! I cried with relief and joy when I was finally able to get vaccinated. I drove through a maze of National Guard volunteers at a mass vaccination site and could not believe how efficient and joyous the entire process was. I would be first in line if possible if/when booster vaccines become available.

Right there with you sharing your sentiment!

I’m really, really glad smarter minds than mine were able to come up with the technology to give us the vaccines. I read a headline earlier today that one company is going to tackle malaria next via mRNA. That would be awesome, plus I’m hoping the cancer mRNA vaxes in the pipelines also work.

It was great both being able to interact physically with friends and family, both here and in Israel, and it is all because of the vaccine. I am an extrovert who tends towards to be physical, and it was HARD isolating and not touching anybody.

I was also happy when my serological test in Israel gave a strong positive for COVID antibodies (I know, COVID is the disease, not the virus), since now I know that the vaccine is working!

I was happiest when my last daughter was able to get vaccinated. She has been living in an area with very little COVID, but where vaccines were delayed. Once we were all vaccinated I could feel a great sense of relief.

I know a lot of very good people who live in a country which is still far behind in vaccination. We can only hope that everyone in the world will have had the chance to get vaccinated soon.

We can also be very thankful to the medical workers (and the medical high tech workers) who make this possible.

I have a kid who is outside the US, luckily in a place with a very low COVID rate. She was so excited to finally be vaccinated recently. It’s nice to have one less thing to worry about.

Agree, I got vaxxed on a feast that Catholics celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. Truly felt blessed. All the people who made it possible- like National Guard- what a gift of their time and talents. All the volunteers, answering questions, giving encouragement, watching for reactions.
A relief to be on path to interact with others safely.

Same, when D22 got her first Pfizer-BioNTech shot 4 1/2 weeks ago. Now waiting another 3 1/2 weeks before we “try” for her second shot (“try” because under 18s are not officially being vaccinated here in the UK). Fingers crossed!

When my grandma and my parents were finally able to get vaccinated in February I cried.

Let’s keep the focus of this thread on the celebration please. Any posts not in this vein should really be confined to one of the other active threads.

This time, and this time only, I moved the Walter Mitty-esque musings to the other thread. In the future, I will just hide them.

When the vaccines were released, my state required you to play the Hunger Games–get up at 6 AM, wait for slots to be released, and see if you could grab one–they ran out of slots in minutes.

After trying 3 weeks in a row, I nabbed a slot at CVS–and I cried–such an emotional process to get a life saving vaccination. 2 weeks after final shot, like a one-ton weight was lifted off my shoulders!!!

Losing that euphoria due to the breakthrough cases, but keep reminding myself that the odds are firmly in my favor (keeping with the Hunger Games theme–HA!)

For me the happiest moment was learning Pfizer would be approved for 12-15 year olds in mid June. I never expected approval to come that early, and it opened up the entire summer for D23, who doesn’t turn 16 until next month. She’s gone to the movies, eaten indoors at restaurants, had sleepovers with vaccinated friends and most importantly flown across the country with her parents and older brother to see grandparents and extended family.

Very grateful to the private companies mandating the vaccine. Really helpful so government doesn’t have to deal with the backlash. They’ve come across strong and no nonsense. Even Anthony Scaramucci on behalf of his hedge fund. “Get it or be fired!” Never though I’d admire that guy for anything !

I’m happy to be vaccinated. I live in an area where demand far exceeded supply, and we have a highly vaccinated, low Covid case count. I can’t think of anyone I know who isn’t vaccinated.
