Valedictorian/Salutatorian

Do your schools rank?
How do colleges look at rank?

I'm pretty sure that being Valedictorian helps out a little bit to compete against students from other schools for spots in a college, such as Harvard.

Personally, I'm the current Valedictorian at my school.

Yes my school ranks.
At some colleges rank is very important and at others it's just another admissions stat.

I'm also valedictorian at my school.

No my school does not rank.
Colleges look at rank as a tool for contextualizing your GPA.
Schools, including ones that don't rank, often include in their school profile a GPA range (the max and min of the graduating class). And Harvard asks counselors to give some estimation of rank/decile/etc. I think they say something like, the admissions committee feels convinced that rank info is necessary in the evaluation of an applicant.

I am not valedictorian at my school.

we rank

i was salutatorian junior year at midyear, but i have a good chance to move up to val

i am valedictorian....too bad we have more than 1 at my school...

i think rank is somewhat important. however, colleges can't look at it too heavily b/c like gpa, it is very bias (school difficulty, competitiveness, etc). that's why there's an SAT. buy anyway...

i am valedictorian.

Hi vals, I'm sal.
And hoping I hung onto it. I have a secret personal vendetta against number three.
I think rank matters to an extent. Colleges want to see how you do in relation to your peers, however, rank can't be looked at too hard.
Exhibit A, my high school.
Class of 2007 that just graduated was super duper competitive. My brother was in it, he was 3. In his class, there was seriously 1 point between numbers one and ten. In my grade, I think there's a 1 point difference between 1 and 2.

However, I've gotten the impression that being valedictorian and salutatorian gets you some nice scholarships. That's another reason why I'm hoping to hang on...
