<p>hi all... im plannin to write my SAT in january.. i will be in the graduating class of 2012 which means ill probably apply to college in october/novermeber next year. now my question to all is:is there any particular time period for which the SAT score is valid? as somebody told me thats its just 1 year in which case ill hav to give it much later.

<p>There's no "validity period" for the SAT test. Any time you take the SAT, it says on your record and will be accepted for college admissions purposes. The only exception is if you take a test before 8th grade, in which case, the College Board clears your record at the start of 9th grade unless you ask them to keep the test on your record.</p>
<p>If you're going to be in the college class of 2012, then that would mean you will be in 10th grade in the fall, correct? (If you mean high school graduating class of 2012, then its way to early to take the test for admissions purposes!) While some students do take the SAT in 10th grade, many (most?) take it for the first time in the spring of 11th grade and then repeat that spring and the next fall if necessary. </p>
<p>I'm assuming you're planning to apply to American universities. Check with some of the colleges you're interested in - your may need to take SAT II Subject tests. The best time to take these subject-specific tests is after you have completed the appropriate class in high school</p>

<p>You will be in the college graduating class of 2011 if you enter college in the fall of 2007 (students like me entering this Aug/Sept are class of 2009). You'll be applying to colleges in the fall of 2006, so this fall or next spring (2006) is a good time to take your first SAT. That way, if you decide you want to take it again, you will still have plenty of extra time. Just out of curiosity, what is the school year like in the UAE? In the US, it normally runs from August/Sept to May/June, which is why a couple of us were confused about your grade level (since we're in our summer vacation right now)</p>
<p>As for the semester/session system in colleges that you asked about in your other post, each college has a different way of dividing up the school year. Some have two semesters, one in the fall and one in the spring. Others use three sessions or four quarters. Each session is essentially one grading period.</p>
<p>well there isnt actually anything like the UAE school year... it depends on wht sylllabus ur doin... me im doin the INDIAN syllabbus which is knowsn as CBSE..our school year begins in april and then we go on until june.. then v hav summer vacations.. so now v in vacations of summer like u guys.. we resume in septemebr.. again hav december winter vacations for 15 days.. and then from jan-march.. final exams in march.</p>
