I was just thinking that it reminds me of a 3 ring circus. Pass that popcorn, jym! :D

Actually, it is. Only 2.67% of all households in the United States make more than $200,000 a year. And in the world, I’d imagine that is well under 1%.

I would have an easier time paying for college for S with a $200K income :)

If we were a full pay at an ivy, if it were such a hardship on my family, I would take a good long look at the excellent schools that would have given my child merit aid for those stats.

How is it worth it to instead have to give up your avocation, work long past your retirement, and be very bitter about it?

LOL - we make significantly more than $200K (dual income professional family) so we must be BETTER parents! All right!! (high fiving self)

And we were full pays at expensive schools that were NOT Ivies…gimme ten.

Wow, I’m a really bad parent :(.

thats a mighty nice area you live in, POIH.

Saddle on over and reach into the popcorn tub, frazzled!!. This is gonna be quite a show!

The extent to which some people are so blinded by Ivy prestige that they consider admittance to be the equivalent of an obligation is truly amazing.

Well remember, another of POIH’s threads dealt with hobnobbing with the right people. I doubt that Pell recipients are in that group. The Harker school draws students from a very wealthy part of the bay area. Of course, that area has a high cost of living and I’m quite sure that most Harker students’ families are not in the poor house.

Move over guys, pass me the popcorn. Who’s going to make the beer run?

LOL DadII–
Pulling up old posts?? Thats great!!

^^ learnt a couple tricks or two from the master.

The difference - I don’t use those to make persoanl attacks.

It’s the Silicon Valley, where most do have a high income, and/or are dual-professional couples. Housing costs are extremely high, particularly in the residential areas supporting prime public schools. It’s conceivable that one could spend most of their weeks not interfacing with anyone making much less than $200K, unless one didn’t realize that possibly some Harker kids have “undeserving” parents whose students were awarded generous FA.

This will not be forgotten. Dont kid yourself-- you dont think all these snarky cracks at POIH were personal attacks?? Thats pretty funny. What are we drinking tonight??

rom828-- joining us in the front row?? C’mon down!

Quite aware of the location , epiph. I am coming out there this weekend!! Look out below!!!

But even in silicon valley, there are fast food employees and gardeners and county employees and the folks in the hospitality industry, etc etc. Not everyone lives that grand life, eh?

Popcorn…?? I have my Junior Mints, Milkdud, and Nonpariels out too. Maybe some Twizzlers.

Could someone please mix some cosmos? This is the high falutin’ section.

It’s my birthday. The family gave me a giant movie theater sized Kit Kat bar. Perfect for this occasion. :D

Happy Birthday Martina! Here on this thread, birthday gals get a suite at the Ritz and a bottle of Dom. There you go!

No cosmos…some folks here are reducing unnecessary discretionary spending so they can pay the college bills…that would be us “middle income” earners.
