Value of Awards

Yes, another one of the does having this matter? threads.... sorry

I'm a good student, yadda yadda. 95.7 unweighted, 106.1 weighted GPA (got a+ in two ap classes, shot gpa wayyy up), take ap's

Involved in lots of things: track, deca, student government, society for ap students (made my own club, helps kids study for ap tests, peer to peer advice on colleges, scheduling, etc.)

Yet, I don't have a defining award or accolade to add to my resume. I've been all-conference in track 3 times, but a lot of people achieve that so its not that honorable to receive.

I'm talking like a good award: County Champion, Distinguished Scholar, etc.

I really just want to know the value of awards on a college application and its weight on acceptance

Only well-known awards, e.g. Siemens, Intel Talent Search, USAMO, etc. carry significant weight. Many applicants to the most competitive colleges have state-level or regional-level awards. I doubt county champion and distinguished scholar would be weighted significantly. If you were a recruited athlete, that’s a different matter.

I disagree. Even the small awards matter; they provide validity and increase the significance of your ECs.
