Nervous… rejected Northwestern - accepted Washington University - St Louis - Hoping for another option with better financial aid
The thing that’s really eating me is that their admitted student days are so early in April. Even if they release decisions tomorrow and you book trips on Wednesday, it’s only a 10-day advanced ticket so no deals to be found. S19 would have to go to this first admitted weekend because he’s already booked for one on April 11. At least the other school on his list that releases decisions this week has a late April admitted student option.
I got waitlisted at northwestern and rejected at USC so I’m just praying to get in at this point. Is demonstrated interest a big thing at Vanderbilt or not really? I visited and sat in on a class so I’m hoping that helps but at this point I’m so scared
Vandy said, “Always remember that Vanderbilt does not take demonstrated interest into account in our admissions process, so whether or not you visited campus will not have an impact on your admissions decision!” in a blog post about spring visits. https://admissions.vanderbilt.edu/vandybloggers/2018/03/spring-visit-options/
I just re-checked the Common Data Set this morning to confirm that they do not consider student interest. I wonder if they take into account other factors that might suggest a greater likelihood that an accepted student would actually attend, such as family ties or familiar “feeder” high schools? My son applied from the midwest with zero connections, and I’m guessing no one from his small school has ever been accepted to Vanderbilt.
Just found this interesting info on the waitlist (from a 2018 blog post):
“We have admitted students from the waitlist for the last 27 consecutive years, so you can feel confident that our enrolled class will include waitlisted students. In recent years, we have used the waitlist to fill up to 10% of the incoming class…”
And this:
“…over the last five years, an average of 8% of our enrolling class of 1,600 has been admitted from the waitlist and we expect this year to be something similar.”
Still a long shot, of course, but more encouraging than at some schools…

i just want to know the DATE already ugh
Ok. Really? They just updated their blog…but just with a story about community service! Lol!
Do you think that means they won’t release tomorrow?
I’m betting it’s ivy day … I’d rather pull off all the band aids one day rather than drag it out over many.
I don’t think I’ll make it until Thursday.
@Trixy34 you and me both
Seriously - had a dodgy EKG 2 weeks ago - Vandy, if you’re listening, my life could be in your hands.
Spoke with Admissions today - I was told it was too late to add anything to an applicant’s file since the process is nearly complete and that notification would be by the end of this week.
Not a date, I know, but that made me think it’s also not tomorrow. Sorry!
I really hope it’s not Friday.
Didn’t Vanderbilt come out the day before Ivy Day last year? If that pattern follows then it would be Wed. But come on. Northwestern, Emory, Chicago, USC, all of the UCs are all out. They have a lot of apps too. Why does any school need this much time?
all i have left to wait for is ivies + vandy and its killing me
@rshrawg This year’s ED stats are available on the Vandy admissions blog:
https://admissions.vanderbilt.edu/vandybloggers/2019/02/class-of-2023-early-decision-by-the-numbers/
FWIW, as I posted several pages ago, the pattern of at least the last two years would predict tomorrow. And it could still be tomorrow–last year they emailed at 5:30 CT (6:30 ET) to announce that decisions would be available at 5:30 CT the next day. We’ll have a better idea if tomorrow’s the day after 5:30 CT rolls around in a half hour…
All I can think of is that they did have to make EDII decisions.
