congratulations to all those accepted!!
@homerdog well that’s not what you specified
waitlisted.
I wasnt rlly upset about it until my screen was covered in big letters with my name and for a minute I had hope. lol thanks for that @ vandy
so yeah I was waitlisted RD
ACT - 33
Math II - 730, Bio M- 780
A LOT of extracurricular and all of them were basically through performing arts
I’ve been accepted to Michigan, Northwestern, BC, Villanova, Fordham, Syracuse
rejected from USC
currently running through what-ifs in my head because I was going to apply ED2; this has not been a fun night for me
This year’s admissions have been crazy…I was accepted to Vandy and WashU but waitlisted at Northwestern, and it seems like a bunch of others on this thread have had the opposite happen to them.
Agreed. I know someone who was accepted to WashU but rejected ED to Emory and rejected UVA OOS but accepted to Vandy. Just goes to show that the college admissions process is subjective and sometimes doesn’t make any sense
Congrats to those accepted!
@WhatsAppening, what major? Did you accept your spot on the waitlist
Is there a way to find out how many applicants were offered a spot on the wait list?
@PatronusMom I don’t know that you will find that number. Vanderbilt isn’t required to fill out all of the fields on the common data set and that’s one that they chose to not fill out for years past. Some other schools might have that info. I know most schools have waitlists WAY bigger than the number of kids they accepted. Twice or three times as big. So, if a school accepted 3000 kids, the kids offered waitlist could be as many as 10,000. Not everyone takes a spot though.
I read this in a Washington Post article about college waitlists: “Vanderbilt University works its list heavily. In 2014, it offered admission to 210 of its 4,536 wait-listed students to help fill a class of about 1,600”
Right. I’ve mentioned upthread that they took 243 off waitlist last year.
Interesting data from the Washington Post article, thank you! And thanks for your insights as well, homerdog. It’s all one big puzzle whose pieces are still being put together.
A few people posted early last night about being “waitlisted” but then accepted once they clicked the waitlist link? It seems very confusing. Has anyone gotten any clarification about this? We are new to this college process and its been a difficult road to navigate so far.
@feeltheburn9 My daughter’s portal indicated that she had been waitlisted, while the next sentence said “You’re In!” and provided links to brag about it on social media. I think that’s what others experienced as well. She was not waitlisted and then accepted, simply waitlisted. The decision language was VERY poorly worded and I think it may have since been changed. I can’t tell anymore since her portal now says something like “you’ve claimed your spot on the waitlist,” but it definitely no longer shows any reference to being “in.”
thank you. My son clicked the link and it only took him to a PDF letter basically saying he was on the waitlist. We found it very odd based on what some others posted.
I work at Children’s, who is their friend? Nick?
My son was rejected. Disappointed but not surprised, and he has other great options.
OOS, 34 ACT, 4.4 GPA (school doesn’t disclose rankings), varsity athlete, National Merit Commended Student, Vandy legacy.
Congrats to accepted students! My husband loved it.
How does waitlist work? Is it like rolling admissions, as accepted students decline spots, waitlist students get offered spots? Or do they wait till a specific date to offer spots, like a waitlist decision date?
D19 accepted to be on the waitlist. ? oh the waiting . I just can’t anymore . Just want this roller coaster to stop already .
