Does anyone know the acceptance rate for the class of 2023?
@drwprz here are the ED stats. Last year they posted the RD stats at the end of May.

You should accept the Wait List but do not yet mention your gap year plan. If you get off the Wait List, then you will need to accept the offer and put down the approximately $750 deposit. Once you have a confirmation you are part of the incoming class, call the Admissions Office and ask how to go about asking for a one-year deferral in order to take a gap year. You should detail what you plan to do during the gap year and confirm that you are committed to Vandy. My son did this in 2017 when he got into Tulane (was accepted, put down a deposit, then asked for a deferral) and later when he got off the waitlist at Bucknell and decided to go there instead of Tulane (go accepted off the waitlist, accepted the spot and put down a deposit, then wrote an email asking for a one-year deferral. In BOTH CASES, he got enthusiastic “we’ll save a spot for you” responses. In the case of Tulane, they wanted him to sign a form saying he would not apply to any other schools during the gap year. In the case of Bucknell, they were much more laid back , and asked him to just confirm the following February that he was still planning to attend their school in the fall (he is now a freshmen at Bucknell!). Regarding if a school asks you to sign something saying you would not apply elsewhere during a gap year and you are not positive you can stick with that commitment, I had two separate college counselors at different prep schools) say that a school would never sue a kid for signing something like that and then changing his/her mind and applying elsewhere. So, just some details to keep in mind!
To the class of 2023, I would start using facebook for college purpose like checking school facebook events, student group facebook page, and form a study group. From my personal experience, I find it very useful. A lot of students think that they don’t need facebook in college because they don’t care. The school facebook pages and facebook groups has tons of resources.
Accepted (Actually it was two days ago but I forgot to post this on cc)
Residence: International (mainland China)

AP: 5 on Microeconomics, Physics C, Calculus BC, Psychology; 4 on Macroeconomics
GPA (UW): 4.0
Merit/Financial Aid: No
Not sure about going to Vanderbilt yet. Very expensive but highest in national rank among my offers so far. Definitely need to do some comparisons before making my choice.
Btw how did I get accepted to Vandy and rejected by BU and UCSB? Feels like I’m using completely different stats for my college application. So strange.
BU and UCSB get a lot of either foreign student applicants or have lots of in-State Asians. I think the different responses have more to do with the weird limits/caps applied to mainland Chinese applicants and Asians in the U.S. Like it or not, it’s probably the reality for you. But so nice to see that the “better” school (at least in terms of resources for students and accessibility of teachers) is the one that accepted you. I hope you manage to find the resources to attend.
@albertsax @drwprz Class of 2023 RD stats were released Friday. 32,967 RD applications, 2088 admitted, admit rate 6.3%. Quite possibly the lowest RD admit rate in Vandy admissions history. My son was admitted ED1.
Campus visit would increase the chance to be admitted off the waitlist?
