Vanderbilt and Final Transcript

Hey guys.
I'm currently a senior who's committed for the Vanderbilt Undergrad Class of 2017, and I'm a bit worried.

My current courseload is 1 College Distance Learning class, 5 APs, and 1 regular class.
I had 2 Bs (DL and AP) last semester, and right now it's looking like 1 C (DL), 3 Bs (APs), and 3 As (2 APs and the regular) for my final transcript.

I know that this looks like a bad case of senioritis (which it really wasn't - the distance learning class got super hard this semester compared to last semester, and I had to spend more time on it to even maintain the C, which resulted in less time for my other classes resulting in them dropping to Bs).

I don't really know Vanderbilt's policy on rescinding based on final transcripts, and I'm worried since I'm committed to Vanderbilt, meaning I'll be stuck without a college in the case they do rescind me.

Does anyone know what could possibly happen or have any advice at all?
I'm really worried, and I'd really appreciate any help.

Your “senioritis” certainly doesn’t look that bad. You got 3 B’s in AP classes (what’s that, still a 3.5 weighted?), and dipped to “average” in a college class that probably wasn’t a requirement for your graduation. You took a tough course load of 5APs and a college class and didn’t get all A’s - it simply sounds like you’ll now be mentally well-prepared for the reality of college grades :)

Based on the talk I heard from the admissions director, they take the final transcript into consideration. But my hunch is you’re okay. Just don’t let the C slip to a D. That might get you a letter requesting explanation.

You’re fine.

Yeah, senioritis happens to a lot of graduating seniors. Don’t feel terribly discouraged; you’re not the only kid to go through this.

When I was in the 12th grade, we had this one kid who usually did well on his school work, but once second semester rolled around, he seemed to stop caring about what his teachers were saying, began to sleep in class, etc. He was also into some online role-playing fantasy game (WoW if my memory is correct) that he spent playing hours into the night. I’m not sure if he got rescinded from any college he was accepted to, but OP you still have time to bring your grades up. Don’t worry so much. It’s not the end of the world for you just because you got a couple of Bs and 1 C.

DaveandKevin how old are you now? Which college did you enroll at?

rollingflash - You are overreacting. No worries at all. It won’t even raise an eyebrow at Vandy.

I really hope you guys are right because I’m committed to Vandy and first semester I got all A’s and 1 B and this semester I’m getting 1 C and 1 B with all other A’s. The C and B are in AP Physics and Calculus III so its not that I’m just slacking off in easy classes.

Some of us that have been around awhile have seen this dozens of times, maybe even close to one hundred (not all at Vandy, but a few there as well). I have even seen people get a D in one class and nothing happens except sometimes a letter saying the equivalent of “don’t make a habit of this”. Sleep easy, you will be fine.
