Vanderbilt Class of 2024 RD Discussion

Yeah that’s what I thought. I just saw other people speculating.

Anyone else get a finaid email for FAFSA documents?

Yeah I did too. Wondering if it’s a sign of anything.

@GreatRaft Same here. Definitely not a bad sign that they’re looking into our financial aid information this late in the game, but I wonder if there was any correlation with acceptance in years past.

It is, indeed, a good sign. With no more than 10 days to go, they have no reason to be creating FA packages for thousands of other applicants when it is a need blind decision.

Fingers crossed for you.

@patssox2019 and @GreatRaft what kind of documents? Items outside of what was part of the normal FAFSA or CSS they originally requested?

@OH2020MOM
Nope.
Text of the email:
Our records indicate that we have not yet received results of the College Board Financial Aid PROFILE and/or the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Both applications are required if you want to be considered for Vanderbilt need-based assistance.

It is definitely not too late to apply. We meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for each and every student who applies, so please act quickly.

The steps in the process to apply for need-based aid are as follows:

Submit the 2020-2021 College Scholarship Service Financial Aid PROFILE CSS PROFILE, school code 1871.
Submit the 2020-2021 Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), school code 003535.
Please review your financial aid checklist within MyAppVU. Should you have any questions regarding your financial aid status or you feel that you have received this message in error, feel free to contact us directly via e-mail at finaid@vanderbilt.edu or via phone at 615.322.3591.

Sincerely,

@patssox2019

Did you complete the CSS profile? That is a requirement of Vandy in addition to the Fafsa. It is still likely great news, but they need that too for financial aid.

Look on your portal on the financial aid tab.

Fingers crossed for you.

Is there an exact date set for decision releases?

Nothing official yet. Since last year’s release was on 3/27 5:30p CT, most people are guessing 3/25 5:30p CT since schools like to do it the same day and same week. Good luck to all!

do you guys think they’ll send an email or anything?

@winnie24 I think they did last year.

would they postpone because of the coronavirus?

Is there a possibility that Vandy could come out on April 1st?

I’d say: Possible, yes. Probable, no.

Did anyone else get an email this month from the US Department of Education that their FAFSA correction was processed successfully?

@thefemalecurry35
I received that email too. When I compared the new FAFSA with my old SAR, I saw that my parents’ income had been reduced. I don’t know which school did this, but I assume it was due to some sort of discrepancy.

My brother is a junior at Vanderbilt, and he always gets emails from Vanderbilt stating, “your FAFSA correction was processed successfully on this date.” So I don’t know, maybe it was Vanderbilt looking into our accounts for admittance.

@thefemalecurry35
I try not to read too much into FA stuff like this, but it gives me some hope.
How does your brother like Vandy btw?
