Vanderbilt Class of 2024 RD Discussion

Hey guys! Did any of you apply for any of the merit scholarships? (Ingram, Chancellor, etc.) If so, do you know when we’re supposed to hear back, or can you post on here if you get an email or anything regarding it?

@sassycassie5896 The website says they notify by mail and email in mid-March

@HokieCrazy I don’t think that’s true or at least not what I’m talking about. You get a notification for the scholarship about if you’re being considered so you fly down there and interview. There’s no way they would let you know in March because that’s way too late to be interviewing ? They probably tell you if you got it in march, but i’m talking about the initial stages

@sassycassie5896 Do you have a link to someplace that mentions an interview process for the Vanderbilt Signature Scholarships? I’ve seen it for other schools, but I haven’t seen anything mentioned about that process for these. These only mention the final notification…and based on previous CC message boards, I don’t see anybody talking about it, either. Am I missing something?

IIRC, there is an interview weekend for Ingram. But no interviews for CV or Chancellors.

You can search prior year threads to pull out the exact dates. But I think Ingram finalist notices/interview invites come out mid-February. Chancellor awards come out mid-February too. CV comes out early March.

“Yesterday I was invited to apply for the Ingram Scholarship as they saw that my application was a “potential fit”. Are emails like this common or should I take it as a possible consideration for acceptance?”

@User7122001

I hope you followed up on this with Vandy. I don’t think this is a typical inquiry.

Seems like it could only indicate positive things – like that Vandy is very interested in you and that they think you would be competitive for one of their top competitive scholarships.

awesome thank you!

In this girl’s reaction video, she gets notified that she is an Ingram Finalist on January 30.

Ingram interviews are held mid February so if you are a finalist you should hear VERY soon. Those who applied and do not receive an interview will likely not hear anything until after the scholars are chosen. They do ask that you refrain from posting on social media until final decisions are made so hopefully the girl in the video posted after that!

@Sox666 her video was posted well after but she simply dated the clip where she reacts to it

Interested to hear more about this. I too thought it was beyond the deadline to apply. Did you indicate interest in your application? My son did not because he applied regular decision and it was past the due date.

It is beyond the deadline to apply. I would guess the poster applied for other Merit Scholarships and they felt Ingram might be a good fit. Agree that this isn’t a typical occurrence. Students that apply regular decision can apply for Merit Scholarships but the applications needed to be submitted by the fall deadline.

has anyone heard back from ingram?

@Sox666 I did not apply for any Merit Scholarship before the deadline.
This is what the email said:
“During our recent review for the Ingram Scholarship, your application was identified as a potential fit for the Ingram Scholarship Program. For us to consider you for the scholarship, there are additional steps you must now complete to progress through the selection process. I certainly hope you choose to submit the Ingram application essays”.
They only gave me 24 hours to send in the essays to apply.

I hope you did!

@User7122001 - curious, how many volunteer hours did you have? Assuming you applied, please let us know when you get an email for interview… as they clearly want to interview you! I wish they weren’t so elusive with the interview dates. I couldn’t find anything with 2020 dates.

I do not know exactly how many hours I have, but I have been actively involved in community service for my entire life. I’ll keep you posted about interview dates!

@User7122001 it says so much about Vanderbilt (and you) that they read the applications carefully and noted that you were a potential fit for Ingram. 24 hours isn’t a lot of time to answer the essays but I am sure you did a great job. I know of one other applicant this year who received the same email you did but they DID apply for one of the other Merit Scholarships. @HalfMoon22 the interviews are always Mid February - I know it is frustrating that they are a bit elusive about it.

My daughter applied RD and still hasn’t received a request for an interview. Assuming at this point that it isn’t going to happen. Anyone else receive RD interviews for Vandy?

I have received an interview for Vanderbilt. It was a very informal one. I had to request one through the online portal. Maybe try doing that. I don’t know if the deadline has passed.
