Does anybody know whether Vanderbilt is a heavy wait-list school? My son is on a roll for getting either accepted or wait-listed…and has been wait-listed for his last 3 decisions. So, I’m just wondering if he can make it 5-straight with Vanderbilt and Dartmouth over the next 2 days.
It doesn’t mean anything as those who were accepted through MOSAIC have yet to receive their financial aid decisions. This sentence is to address the demographic of people who do have a decision but not a financial aid decision.
A good amount of people that are waitlisted at Vandy inevitably get off, so you shouldn’t be too worried. At the end of the day though, your son should be proud of all his decisions regardless of the outcome if he put his best foot forward. Good Luck to Everyone!
I suspect there will be a ton of waitlist clearing this year- at many schools. The financial aid is going to be a doozy…with MANY students requiring much more than they initially applied for or anticipated in light of COVID-19 impacts on their family.
According to Vanderbilt website for last year’s admission - Of the 1,604 enrolled students, 453 got admitted via wait list. So the answer is YES, Vandy uses the wait list to manage their acceptance and yield rates.
Most of these “selective” colleges manage their acceptance and yield stats by using the wait list. If your son has a favorite among his wait list schools, he should declare his top choice to that school since that will help his case. Good luck!
I understand that this is really stressful. I am really anxious too. But whatever the decision is, I hope you all find place at a good college. Good luck!
For anyone who has already gone through the process of opening their decision, how does the website work? Do you see your decision as soon as you click login or is there a separate button to click? I want to be able to prepare myself emotionally before I see my decision.
@derJudge I could potentially be rejected from Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Brown, Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Tufts, and Brandeis tomorrow
