Vanderbilt Class of 2024 RD Discussion

FWIW, last year my daughter received her Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship award email on or around March 8th. So, if they are keeping to a similar schedule this year, you may not hear anything until around then. Also, make sure you check your SPAM inboxes, since that is where her CV email was.

Got my package in the mail today that I’m a Chancellor’s Scholar (full ride)

grats

I also received a denial email for Ingrams. I’m hoping this means we’re admitted! Sadly I think it’s a stretch because they would most likely send denial emails even to students that weren’t accepted for admission. I am still hopeful for the Cornelius Vanderbilt, but I know God has a plan for every senior reading this. Even as decisions don’t turn out as we wish, it shows more and more the specific plan that God has for you.

Congrats! Did you get an email notification about the award before receiving the package? Congrats again.

I don’t think a “denial” email to ingram means exceptance because ingram had a sepearate application which all go to the ingram scholarship commitee (this is based on what an AO told me).

There isn’t a correlation with denial to ingram and accpetance to vandy (I would think this is obvious, but I guess not. And it isn’t smart to spread misinformation.)

@Highpoint I think you’re responding to me, so I’m just gonna answer lol. I got an email inviting me to a fly-in program and then four days letter I got a letter saying I was admitted, inviting me to the program, and another letter saying I received the Chancellor’s Scholarship all in one package

@musicallover2040 Thanks for the response.

@musicallover2040 Just to clarify, isn’t the Chancellors scholarship only full tuition, meaning that you still have to pay room & board, as opposed to a full ride which would cover tuition, room and board??

Sounds like it can be more if there’s unmet financial need, though in this case it’s probably irrelevant whether one got Chancellor’s or not, except if income goes up during the ensuing years.

“Vanderbilt will provide additional need-based financial aid to those Chancellor’s Scholarship recipients whose demonstrated financial need exceeds the amount of full tuition.”

Couldn’t agree more. Good approach that the best path might be one we aren’t expecting. Its undergrad - not the end of the world. Increasingly genuine authentic effort and accomplishment is ignored in favor of choreographed outcomes (think being client of xyz test prep since 8th grade or stuco president after years of feeder school grooming). Fortunately those kinds of “snowplows” lose their horsepower as you get beyond college into the real world.

Guys please I will like to know, since I applied for news based financial aid in Vanderbilt university, if I am admitted they will meet mtn full financial need?,
Regardless of if I had any meet scholarship or not

They will meet full need as defined by them. Running their NPC should give you a good idea of what you can expect.

How come my friend already got into Vanderbilt even though she applied RD?

@guy05260405 she probably got a merit scholarship notification already. Or she got that invite mentioned earlier in the thread.

Does anyone have an idea when decisions for RD come out?

@CallMeBio - based on communications and last year my best estimate is March 25 to 27th. Still a month away!

Anyone any guesses on when CV scholarship notifications will be out?

@stepl100 thanks for the info. That’s far away, I’m anxious already.

Based on previous years, thinking end of next week.
