Vanderbilt Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

I assume for deferred ED II a LOCI is not needed. You already showed huge interest by applying through the binding admissions plan.

Okay yeah that makes sense I’m not gonna send one - thanks!

If accepted ED are you required to withdraw your application from other schools or can you keep it in just to see if you get more financial aid from other schools?

If you applied ED and were accepted with the financial aid that you had expected, you must withdraw from other schools. You cannot shop. It is considered very bad faith, it likely will impact your school in future years, and if Vanderbilt becomes aware they are not going to be happy (they theoretically could pull your acceptance since you aren’t abiding by your contract, but that would be an extreme measure).

The only time you would be able to continue waiting on other schools is if Vandy’s financial aid does not match your expected number. This would be either very rare since Vandy is amongst the best at providing needed aid, or would mean there was an issue with your application (which Vandy will likely address and fix if necessary).

Not pulling applications is the height of selfishness for anyone who does not have aid issues, and is a bad and embarrasing look.

Hi, does anyone know of an expected RD decision date?

Interesting data here. Tough year in all respects.

Whoever accidentally leaked the ED1 data effectively murdered ED2 for the school. Not many qualified candidates will want to lock themselves into a decision for a 10% chance. Better to throw eggs into a bunch of 5-6% baskets.

That said
.it is likely this has been the case at Vandy for a while. ED1 great option, ED2 fools gold.

Quite possibly. Unless Vandy was head and shoulders above your next school, I can’t see students (or GCs, for that matter) finding any rational way to justify ED2 at 10%. Sure, it’s going to be 5-6% higher than RD, but compared against a much larger pool of personal applications, it’s a carnival game ring toss.

24.1%?!! Dang that’s higher than I would’ve assumed! Wow

It may not be that high if you take out athletes, URM, and other considerations.

Its still double the rate of RD from last year. I think this has always been the case with their ED 2 and is a well known fact so it doesn’t seem to have affected the numbers of applicants which has continued to increase over the past few years.

Yes, but a known 10%- no matter how it compares to RD- is a deterrent. It’s simply a low number to have tremendous applicants put all of their eggs into a single basket to chase. I would caution to say “known fact”. It was certainly assumed that ED2 at Vandy was quite difficult, and likely more difficult than ED1. But our GCs were shocked at the disparity.

It remains to be seen, of course, but the leak of ED1 stats (and the easy math to determine ED2) will likely be a deterent to future ED2.

Were the stats “leaked” if they were published in the Vanderbilt Hustler? Im not familiar with that publication- I thought the school released that info. Also, with increasing applications and a constant class size it would make sense that the percentage acceptance would continue to decrease. I agree- the small ED 2 rate will continue to be a deterrent for many.

For those who got accepted on early decision, is it true that you all have both permanent and mailing addresses in your portal?
Does it mean having ONLY the permanent address on the portal is equivalent to REJECTION?

or did you have any portal changes prior to a decision aside from the removal of the withdraw button?

Not sure if they were “leaked” per se, but they were inadvertently released. The Hustler reported information that was temporarily released.

In the past, Vandy has only released final ED information. Right after this info surfaced, admissions deleted it. Somewhere there’s an officer admitting it was released before they intended (i.e., after ED2).

Does anyone have an idea of when RD will come out? I have not seen anything on their social media. Thank you in advance.

nope - radio silence from Vandy on their release date or any other communication.
