Vanderbilt Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Hey guys, I’ve been lurking these threads for a bit and I’m currently at Emory and applied to Vanderbilt. I am sorry that a lot of people are getting frustrated and giving up, but I wanted to say/ask something to the people giving up: if you know FOR SURE that you will be committing elsewhere and have given up all hope on going to Vanderbilt, could you guys withdraw your applications? This would be a huge favor for people who will be sticking it out going forward and potentially would improve our chances of getting in!!

@Ryckmann1334452 hi, vandy is my top choice still (even though I’m getting progressively tired of this) so im hoping to not have to withdraw my app. but, out of the schools ive been accepted to so far, im leaning towards emory then UNC, and probably will go to one of those schools if vanderbilt doesn’t work out…so im just curious what don’t you like about emory that’s making you want to transfer?

So my friend just emailed her AO asking for when the results will be released. AO said they hope to release results by next week, but he could not guarantee that. The wave will be from mid-May to early June!

Then how is it possible that some transfer forms are due May 15 on their website? I am so confused and frustrated at this point

Why don’t you like Emory?

my AO had said decisions will come out within the first two weeks of may. if decisions are coming out in june that’s literally ridiculous when we have to commit to other schools by june 1 their lack of communication and mixed messaging is astounding

Hahhaha i’m transferring out of Emory too!!

@Ryckmann1334452 ^^

@Ryckmann1334452 @eeaadd22 how come you guys are transferring out of Emory? I was thinking about committing there.

I don’t have anything against Emory and will be fine if I stay there next year. But, Vanderbilt was my top choice coming out of HS and I was waitlisted when I applied then. I still think that it would be a much better fit for me as their STEM (specifically Physics) is a bit stronger and they have a few professors that have specific research that really cater to my interests. Overall, its just a case of the grass being greener on the other side and I am still in love with Vanderbilt even after a year at Emory. I have a guaranteed transfer option for Cornell but I actually think I’d rather stay at Emory.

What my HS CC said likely got me waitlisted was a ‘meh’ freshman year at my first high school. To further distance myself from that year, I had a phenomenal senior year and great grades in my first year of college, so he thinks I have a better shot to get in this year and I’m really hoping that I do!

Someone I know just transferred into Vanderbilt. I think he did a music audition thing though.

@Ryckmann1334452 ah I see. I currently go to a liberal arts college in upstate NY and just the location alone… if I was choosing between Emory and Cornell I’d pick Emory hands down. I hate living in upstate NY.

do either of you (@eeaadd22 too) have anything to say about what the student life is like at emory? like social life and location and all that? diversity? or know anything about what premed is like through friends maybe?

@ebeckins2020 I’m a current Emory student (graduating in 3 days) and I would be happy to answer any of those questions in a PM.

^ lol wut

I think it’s odd how different admissions counselors have different responses to the admissions decisions release… Hopefully today’s the day

I really really hope to hear back today

I’m expecting next week, Vandy is my last hope after such a long transfer process… 7 months in and not one good result

yeah, I think Upenn, Harvard, and Brown are releasing next week as well so hopefully.

Question: does anyone know if the checklist disappears before decisions are released for Vanderbilt? I can’t remember if that was the case the first time I applied since I checked my decision only after I got an email notification.

@lamatunatuna Brown just released, I didnt get in
