I’m a minority applicant to Vanderbilt this year, Regular Decision. I was wondering if anyone had information to share about the Vanderbilt MOSAIC program. Last year, I had a few Chinese and other minority friends who were invited to MOSAIC (they’re all at Vanderbilt now) and really enjoyed their experience.
Does Vandy plan on continuing with this MOSAIC program? Is it indicative of acceptance? And about how many minority applicants are invited every year?
Our son was a Chancellor’s Scholar and he hosted MOSAIC students all four years. One comment I would like to make is that for students who are of any definition of a minority background: Do not take a lack of invitation to MOSAIC as a sign you will not be admitted to Vanderbilt or as a sign that you are not viewed as a strong applicant. There is no way that the high numbers of fine applicants from all backgrounds and cultures can result in a MOSAIC weekend experience invite. There is no way that Vanderbilt can admit all of its highly qualified applicants of all backgrounds. Keep in mind that Vanderbilt has outstanding need aid with no loans in your offers, although we all understand that families who qualify for little need aid may have their realistic budget hopes pinned on merit offers.
Of course you should share the love and feel attachment to other schools than Vanderbilt. Use April to sort this all out if admitted. Use May and June to sort out your Wait List options! Take the long view, think highly of yourself and keep a positive outlook going towards each your college admission teams.
Hi Benzy50, could you please share what kind of mail service Vandy used ? I’m just trying to figure out when it would get here (if my DS was lucky ). We are in FL. Thanks
@coolmom3 USPS Priority Mail. Your letter should arrive today unless you are in one of the few areas that Priority Mail takes three days in Florida. Good luck!
I’m wondering if anyone from Florida got an invite? I’m holding my hopes up though. Actually, I looked at the last year thread and found out that last year the letters were sent on the 10th and people were getting them until the 18th. I guess USPS Priority is not all that reliable and it can take more than 3 days. The wait continues! My DS is much more patient than I am (LOL)
@CatMeow What weren’t you expecting? To clarify, I only said the Asian thing because Rice (another school I applied to) has a diversity weekend but excludes Asians. Sorry if it came off offensively!
