I am an international newly admitted transfer to both schools.

My current major is EE but I want to go to Wall street.

Maybe I will dual major in EE and physics or math or maybe I will take a minor in economics

Which school is more popular to investment banks?

Will these IBanks show up in on-campus job fair and recruit someone like me with a major in EE or physics or Math?

Any comment will be appreciated.

same question about Ibanks?

EE and Math really sucks at Vandy. I wonder if the job placement is good.

Why would you consider Vandy if you think the EE and math suck?

@kelsmom

But state schools care more about their football team than about undergrads.

And Umich is not as selective as Vandy.

But I am still worried about the intern opportunities at Nashvile.

@babyboom

Yes. I dont think people in New England really know Vanderbilt.

One of my kids did a double major with math and econ. He did not think math sucked and he had done summer programs at Duke and Stanford with some top math kids as TAs, so he had exposure beyond Vanderbilt. Did you know that Vandy now has a second Fields Medalist on faculty?

xszhang: But I think Goldman Sachs and many other banks have many offices in many locations in the US. Is it necessary to work in New England?

Btw, I have a question. Do recruiters care about major or just GPA?

I am going to Michigan if I don’t get into Vandy off the waitlist. I would say Vandy but Michigan is a great choice.

hey February! I’ve also been waitlisted by Vandy, but I have paid my enrollment deposit to Michigan! Are you an engineering student??

haha thats funny. I am a LSA student. I’m gonna go to Vandy if I get in but if not Michigan is awesome.

“But state schools care more about their football team than about undergrads.”

You cannot be serious! Michigan was an academic powerhouse long before the football team started to play, and that was in 1879!

I encountered the same situation. And I have a third choice:USC

also do not know what to choose…sounds like USC is not strong in academics and kind of defer to vocational training…

@February16:

What is your major?

I think poli sci, but im undecided at this point. My brother goes to USC and i live in LA. SC is a great school and an awesome place to be, especially if youre not from here. Any of the places youre looking at would be awesome.

@the OP - If you’re an aspiring I-banker, UMich Ross edges out Vandy imo. If you can’t get into Ross, you should go with Vandy.

USC’s OCR is restricted to the west coast from what I’ve been told. If you’re ultimate goal is wall street, you should decide between Vandy and UMich (Ross only).

@ChicagoBears1:

UMich (Ross only)?

I got admitted by Umich College of Engineering(CoE). Does that mean I have less chance?

I found that some Umich CoE graduates got into GS or JP Morgan…

@ChicagoBears1:

Are you a vanderbilt student? or Northwestern student?
