Vanderbilt Tennessee email?

I recently got an email from Vanderbilt:

You are receiving this email because you are or your child is a top performing student who may be interested in attending one of our 2014 summer programs. Your information was submitted to us by alumni, individuals who are familiar with our programs, school administrators, school teachers and staff, college fair representatives, users of our websites, etc.

Vanderbilt University offers a number of well-balanced summer academic programs for top performing high school students.

I put my email address on my ap tests (I just took 3) so collegeboard has my information. I have over a 4.0 GPA and I'm just wondering if this offer for the summer program is just another mass email or something I should actually consider going to...

Also I don't understand the part that says alumni submitted my info because I don't know anyone from Vanderbilt. Also I'm on summer vacation going into junior year.

Well I attended the Vanderbilt Summer Academy, and it was very very fun. So I would definitely recommend just looking into it.

Don’t read into this too much. This seems to be a mass email. The wording suggest that it is. It doesn’t use your name, it generally says you or your child, and you yourself admit that you put names on AP exams. There is no way that they would have your GPA. Definitely consider it, but the email doesn’t seem to be out of the ordinary.

It does have my name I just did not include that part.
